Watched this not too long ago for some reason. What a pile of shit!
Thoughts/questions:
--why did Liu Kang even bother meeting up with Nightwolf and learning his animality? His dragon animality was some of the dumbest old bullshit that I've ever seen and Shao Khan's was some ass as well. It's my theory that Nightwolf had the good peyote and Kang was going for a free score.
--why did Raiden randomly get a haircut and new clothes halfway through the movie?
--why did I watch this movie?

Hey, I did this too a couple weeks ago. Saw it on Netflix and had to watch it.
Oh man its bad. And yeah, the whole Night Wolf thing was pointless. I love their brushing off of Sonja encountering Jax in the insane situation of getting metal arms. "Oh you know me Sonja..."
Man they really blew it with this movie. The first was way better than it had any right to be, and they could have created a good enough story to keep it going.

You have to love how bad, yet hammy, Shao Kahn and Sindel's acting is. I know, she was brainwashed into loving him, but it makes you wonder if they really weren't meant for each other all this time.

All I remember is the film killing off Johnny Cage (played by a different guy) to make Shao Kahn look strong.

It's sad when MK Conquest has the more dignified Shao Khan and Raiden.

Any excuse to post this wholly embarrassing call to arms that was featured on the official website for this movie:
There's desperation, and then there's that.
I love how they draw attention to Raiden's "sleeker, cooler" new look and his buzz cut.

It still puzzles me that this one is on Netflix ,but not the first one for some reason.

I love how they draw attention to Raiden's "sleeker, cooler" new look and his buzz cut. It's so revealing about the film and it's problems. "Did you notice all the fanservice we put in?" Instead of having a story, and seeing which characters could go into it, it was HERE ARE ALL THE MORTAL KOMBATZZZZ LOVE US!!!!

Man it sucked, didnt help that my two favorite characters (sub zero and Sheeva) did sod all. Sub Zero disappeared without trace while Sheeva died when a rock fell on her after doing nothing but stand about previously.

It still puzzles me that this one is on Netflix ,but not the first one for some reason. That first one was on there for the longest time. I sort of get the feeling that Netflix is trying to pull a fast one on us by having Annihilation up there and not the first one in the hopes that we wouldn't notice the difference. Well guess what, Netflex? Ya dun goofed because everybody can tell the difference.

Let's not forget one of cinema's most fitting pieces of dialogue for any paying viewer to have heard: {Spoiler}

I rewatched this movie a few months ago after having seen it as a kid. This movie is some shit. The acting was shitty, the story was shitty, and the special effects were shitty. I saw this when it came out in theaters and loved it. I have no idea what I saw in this shit lol.

The only benefit to the goofy thing ever being placed on film.

This movie is possibly the most triumphant example of a licensed property trying to do waaaaaaaay too much all at once and shoehorning ALL the characters.
I also recall that for a brief time period after my friends and I watched it in high school, "Flaming ninjas that fall from the sky and kill people" became an inexplicably durable in-joke.

And the worst of it is they didn't even go with the good ones. No Kabal, no Kung Lao, no Stryker, a really weakass Mileena-in-name-only who doesn't even get to show her face, but who gets to be prominently featured in the plot? Sindel and motherf***ing Nightwolf.

Yeah, I remember being very disappointed at the time that they offhandedly killed off Kabal and Stryker basically in a set-up to kill off Rain too.
I'm also surprised that Kung Lao was completely ignored since he was/is arguably one of the more prominent protagonists.

Kung Lao at least got a chance to be the protagonist on that Mortal Kombat Conquest show that was famously a WCW Nitro aftershow for a while.

--why did Raiden randomly get a haircut and new clothes halfway through the movie? Movie answer: Possibly had to do with him losing his god powers. Real answer: Guessing James Remar hated wearing that f***ing wig.
