Straightforward question which film or films are your go to flicks for disaster movies, mine are Volcano and San Andreas. Both are interesting and hypothetically could happen in reality as well

I only saw it once, but I remember finding The Day After Tomorrow pretty underrated.

I only saw it once, but I remember finding The Day After Tomorrow pretty underrated. got the holograph cover'd 2disk dvd sitting proud the SKYLINE cover is also holographic ..... the likes of TOWERING INFERNO, THE HINDENBURG, HANGING BY A THREAD, EARTHQUAKE and POSEIDEN ADVENTURE started it off, but more human lead ones like TWO MINUTE WARNING, ROlLERCOASTER and THE MEDUSA TOUCH ..... onto CITY ON FIRE and one of my all time favs METEOR ARMAGEDDON (which i regret not seeing on the big screen) but saw DEEP IMPACT instead DANTES PEAK (also saw in the cinema) thoroughly enjoy 2012 and THE CORE oh yeah TWISTER (still got the BEST reaction line when paxton sees the giant F5!) POMPEII i saw three times before deleting THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN is pure class, alongside THE BIRDS even the likes of PHASE IV, which i've not seen in decades ..... and try and look out for THE SINKING OF JAPAN .....

Grown Ups was the biggest disaster I've ever seen.

I loved Hindenburg, Two Minute Warning and Rollercoaster. Especially Rollercoaster, it's this bizarre expensive episode of Columbo except without Columbo. EDIT: And if I'm naming a bunch of movies I'm remiss not to mention what's definitely my toss up for favorite, AIRPORT 1975!

I do find myself watching San Andreas a good amount of times...whoever that of having Alexandra Daddario run around in a tanktop is a genius. Plus Carla Gugino and that Dwayne guy.

I will never tire of Volcano and Tommy Lee Jones' jackhammer o' doom.
Even though it's pretty light on the actual disaster side of things, I'll watch Deep Impact any time I see it on TV.
Independence Day definitely counts, and I love every bit of it.
it gets some hate, but 2012 is enjoyable enough.

If 28 Days Later counts, then it's probably that.

If you consider continuous police car crashes a disaster.
Blues Brothers and Smokey & The Bandit all the way!

The Poseidon Adventure is my favorite. The original one, not the remake.
The Hindenburg was great too. I remember the whole theater cheering when the dog survived.
The first Airport was my favorite of that bunch.
Earthquake is a classic, but I may be biased because I have ridden through the Earthquake simulation at Universal Studios so many times.

Waterworld ... I'm kidding.
Seriously I'd go with The Impossible, Towering Inferno, The Perfect Storm, Gravity or Runaway Train as my go to disaster movies.

Either Volcano or The Towering Inferno, I've loved them both since I was little.

Even though the SFX are admittedly impressive, 2012 is almost -too- much "Hey, come look at this" to really work for me. It's one of those "Desensitization of scale" things in a way. Even Armageddon did a better job of spacing out the money shots.
