If RR2016 is gonna be like RR1992, then Sheamus is getting the same treatment Taker got in 1992.
The final 6 are gonna be Owens,Bryan,Reigns,Cena,Lesnar and HHH, compared to 1992 which had Pipper, Martel, Flair,Hogan,Sid and Macho.

I like it. The winner was already gonna be Cena, Triple H or Lesnar and I think the only change now is that Reigns could also win, so now we have 4 obvious winners instead of 3. I could also maaaaaybe see them having Bray win it?
The Rumble is predictable every year, with one obvious favorite and a few other maybes. I don't think it makes that big of a difference.

Its a stupid idea. I actually live down the street from the Amway Arena and had thoughts of going. Not anymore. This means the push that Dean can potentially get wont happen. We have to be subjected to SuperReigns, or HHH, or Sheamus or goddamn Cena winning a completely meaningless rumble. I was hoping Bryan was finally gonna get his win back that the WWE fans would go apeshit over, or Ambrose finally getting that next step. But no. We're back to pushing Roman through the moon all the way to f***ing Pluto. Terrible idea. You're implying Ambrose would have won even if it was a normal Rumble.

I'm indifferent...
the winner was going to be obvious anyway.
Though as I said last night now I do kinda want Flair to come out and try and win the Royal Rumble and Title again...

Going back to my OP, obvious winner aside, I always liked how the rumble created a fresh story line for a mania main event. Now in kayfabe that will go to someone for arbitrary reasoning?

No, I'm intrigued enough and glad they're trying something. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

I would have been fine with it if not for the fact that really the only story going in is some variant of "How will Roman Reigns walk out of mania as champ? Will he go in at mania as champ and retain? Or will he instead win it back from whoever wins the Rumble?"

Since this Rumble is for the championship, then it would be a bit silly to have the traditional surprise/joke entrants.

But I believe he realistically has the best chance to win it. WWE need a good face moment to counteract the years prior (Fans being screwed out of Bryan winning twice) Ambrose is the most over face in the company and has been for quite some time.

I wonder what number Reigns gets. If they give him number 1,they'll likely give him a diesel/kane/austin run where he eliminates tons of people one by one, but giving him number 30 would make it even more obvious.

There's two scenario's that I see, personally: 1. Roman Reigns defeats 29 other WWE Superstars to retain his WWE Title, making him overcome the greatest odds in WWE history because Vince now has the same pseudo-sexual obsession with Roman '16 that he did with Shawn '96. 20 years between boners can be hard. 2. Triple H wins the WWE Title in the Royal Rumble so Roman/H can finally happen at WrestleMania and Roman can win the WWE Title for a 3rd time, overcoming the odds for I think what would be the 6th time by that point, getting at least his fourth crowning moment by then, as well. If I had to choose, gun to my head, I'd go with #2 I guess, because #1 kills the territory unless you're going to send the entire roster down to NXT, and call all of NXT up. Just so Roman can beat them again. WWE's biggest issue with the Roman stuff is that they never got a heel hot enough to make this really REALLY work long term. Seth was sort of that guy, but alas. They ruined Bray, Brock is a face whether they like it or not, they don't have the nuts to turn Cena, and Triple H is, well, Triple H. I don't know. I don't want to say I hate this idea just yet. There have been times in the distant past where an idea has come out that makes me go "oh man this is going to be bad" and it ends up being some of the greatest shit ever. At the same time, 2015 was finally the year that made me stop watching present day WWE for the first time ever, and I stuck with them through the early-mid 90's. Oh and hey only because I was too lazy to see if there was another topic. f*** you, Chris Jericho. Go away. "Look, children. It's a falling star. Make a wish." Fair points otherwise, but you can make your own Jericho topic. Get outta here with that negative vibe, Y2J FOREVER BABY!!!

The idea I like. Doing all this for Reigns I do not.
I always thought they should have done this in 2006. The World title was vacant upon Batista getting injured, they did a Battle Royale on Smackdown which Kurt Angle won. But they should have kept it for the Rumble.

Eh, it's good to change things up. There's precedent for this too, the Flair win.

Reigns, Cena, Lesnar and Triple H are the final four so eh, it is what it is. All the other guys just look like props in this match now that I think about it. It might seem unpredictable but it's extremely predictable when you think about it. If Lesnar doesn't win I have no idea what he's doing for WM season though. Maybe we'll get that Wyatt match. You day that now bit when ADR wins to become dual Would and US Champion a lot of people are going to be shocked.

I like it but I fear they will end up making this the new normal. The guy winning the Mania shot here has become a bit of joke because they don't win. I worry they'll see putting the title on the line as restoring the meaning of the Rumble, while finding a different way to name his challenger for Wrestlemania.

It makes a change. At least now they might put some effort into the match.
