Any one else not liking the idea of a WHC Rumble Match?

Idk, to me it cheapens the main event of Mania. I love the traditional Rumble match concept. The main event at mania is the most coveted match of the year (Right Punk?) Imo, you should have to do accomplish something great in kayfabe to gain that spot. Now it just seems like it go to someone for arbitrary run of the mill reasoning. Reigns emerging as a likely winner again only adds to my disapproval but it's not the sole reason. Maybe I'm just a Rumble traditionalist and I hate to see it messed with. (I hated the 40 man rumble) It is ballsy though. I'll give em that much

Reigns, Cena, Lesnar and Triple H are the final four so eh, it is what it is. All the other guys just look like props in this match now that I think about it. It might seem unpredictable but it's extremely predictable when you think about it.

If Lesnar doesn't win I have no idea what he's doing for WM season though. Maybe we'll get that Wyatt match.

The idea's fine, I like it infact, some different flavour for the Rumble. But the result is what worries me.

With only 1 major title the rumble has gotten even more predictable. At least this means the February PPV can matter some.

My favorite Rumble of all time is 1992, so I find this really exciting. The stakes are raised, and it makes the Rumble feel special again after losing quite a bit of it's luster since the brand split days. I do agree with the above sentiment that the outcome is potentially worrisome, but I love the general concept.

I like the idea myself. I'm a little uneasy about it because if the fans don't wanna have it then the whole thing is gonna be a disaster, and the past few Royal Rumbles have been laid out phenomenally bad so there's gonna be a lack of trust of the WWE going into it. It's a good idea on paper and it at least gives them a narrative theme to carry throughout the match so it isn't so methodically dull like before.

The way they got there made perfect sense. Vince doesn't want Reigns to be champion so there's no better match to achieve that than the Royal Rumble, guys are still fighting to headline Wrestlemania, that objective doesn't change, it's just whether or not they go in as Champ that's an added perk. It's hard to balk at it from a storyline perspective and it's not like this will be the first time it happened so from a traditional standpoint it's not unprecedented.

at some point maybe, but this means either Reigns wins a repeat, or he's had 2 reigns that add up to 6 weeks

I could understand maybe if HHH got super pissed at Rollins and made him do it.

There's two scenario's that I see, personally:

1. Roman Reigns defeats 29 other WWE Superstars to retain his WWE Title, making him overcome the greatest odds in WWE history because Vince now has the same pseudo-sexual obsession with Roman '16 that he did with Shawn '96. 20 years between boners can be hard.

2. Triple H wins the WWE Title in the Royal Rumble so Roman/H can finally happen at WrestleMania and Roman can win the WWE Title for a 3rd time, overcoming the odds for I think what would be the 6th time by that point, getting at least his fourth crowning moment by then, as well.

If I had to choose, gun to my head, I'd go with #2 I guess, because #1 kills the territory unless you're going to send the entire roster down to NXT, and call all of NXT up. Just so Roman can beat them again.

WWE's biggest issue with the Roman stuff is that they never got a heel hot enough to make this really REALLY work long term. Seth was sort of that guy, but alas. They ruined Bray, Brock is a face whether they like it or not, they don't have the nuts to turn Cena, and Triple H is, well, Triple H.

I don't know. I don't want to say I hate this idea just yet. There have been times in the distant past where an idea has come out that makes me go "oh man this is going to be bad" and it ends up being some of the greatest shit ever. At the same time, 2015 was finally the year that made me stop watching present day WWE for the first time ever, and I stuck with them through the early-mid 90's.

It was a terrible idea, because it means that Roman has to do one of the two things (either win the Rumble, or get the "crowning title win as the challenger" at Mania) that will make the crowd 100% shit all over him again and completely kill the show that it happens on.

So, yeah, this is a terrible idea.

I think it's good for the Rumble itself. I think we'll see a new champion crowned. I think it's bad for WrestleMania though because I think it's just leading to Reigns winning it back and getting his crowning moment at WrestleMania as a 3 time champion in 3 months. Hopeful wishing it leads to Reigns vs Triple H at WrestleMania and the title match is it's own separate angle.

I mean, if HHH ends up winning the Rumble just so they can call the deafening jeers the 'desired reaction' then, I just dont know...

I'm slightly worried that this is the beginning of the de-emphasising the event and removing it as the first step on the road to Wrestlemania. For two years now they didn't get the reaction they wanted, they didn't get their chosen ones cheered by adoring fans to start them on their journey to the Mania main event so now I wouldn't be surprised if they just sent it on it's way to being another gimmick match B-show with no effect on the biggest show as a title match means very little these days, a prominent Wrestlemania slot has more prestige than their world title. You can lose a title on the show after the Rumble, but it's harder (In keyfabe) to lose a Mania slot.

It sounds tinfoil hat-y, but remember, King of the Ring used to be an important thing too, until it stopped being the launch platforms for main event runs that they wanted it to be, heck, Survivor series nearly suffered the same fate despite being a big 4 show.

It really does depend on where they're gonna go with it.

If they do something extremely obvious like "HHH wins the Rumble and the title only to drop it BACK to Reigns at Mania" then...yeah, probably not gonna be thrilled about it.

But if they throw a total curve ball like HHH comes out at 29, tosses Reigns, and then Daniel Bryan comes out at the 30, tosses HHH and then the main event of Mania is Face vs Face?

My prediction for the Rumble is as follows:

The Wyatts toss Lesnar, setting up their Mania match.
HHH tosses Reigns, furthering their story, and setting up their Mania match.
The Rock tosses Kevin Owens, setting up a match nobody expected.
Taker wins the Rumble, beats Reigns at Fast Lane, and goes on to face John Cena at Mania in his retirement match.

I'm so soured on the last several Rumbles, that putting different stakes on the Rumble makes me feel better. I haven't been happy about a Rumble winner since Edge, and they ended up dropping the ball on Edge's Rumble win after Mania when they started flip-flopping him back and forth between babyface and heel a few times till the end of his career.

Its a stupid idea. I actually live down the street from the Amway Arena and had thoughts of going. Not anymore.

This means the push that Dean can potentially get wont happen. We have to be subjected to SuperReigns, or HHH, or Sheamus or goddamn Cena winning a completely meaningless rumble. I was hoping Bryan was finally gonna get his win back that the WWE fans would go apeshit over, or Ambrose finally getting that next step.

But no. We're back to pushing Roman through the moon all the way to f***ing Pluto.

I think the idea of the Rumble is to get the belt off of Reigns without having him get pinned. HHH in his all knowing wisdom ( ) probably thinks he and he alone can make Roman. Best case scenario, Roman loses the belt, gets screwed out of his rematch in the Feb PPV, and then turns his full focus to HHH for a titleless grudge match while someone else gets to play with the belt

I know that Roman Reigns or Triple H are the likely winners, but part of me is hoping that they actually do something different and surprise fans. HHH showing up (not as an entrant) and eliminating Roman Reigns is the best scenario in my opinion and is the best way to build to a match between the two at Wrestlemania

If Daniel Bryan is returning soon, then having him enter number one and win the rumble would be the best way to to do it (and would guarantee a positive response from the crowd). They could then have Lesnar win some sort of number one contenders match at Fast Lane and then build to a 'dream' match between Bryan and Lesnar

That would then mean that Bryan-Lesnar and Reigns-HHH are the two main events. HHH and Reigns don't really need to the title but they don't really have any other way to build to a Bryan-Lesnar match without the title
