The last one I saw was The Big Short and I thought that was pretty good. Although I still like The 40 Year Old Virgin the best even though the two movies are very different. I also like Crazy, Stupid, Love. I haven't seen The Foxcatcher yet, but have heard good things.

Dramatically, I think Foxcatcher was his best performance, though I like Big Short as a film overall better.
In terms of comedy, I don't he's ever topped his stuff in the first Anchorman.

Little Miss Sunshine may be my favorite.
Carrel's excellent in everything he does though, even if the project itself isn't any good.

Not seen The Big Short yet. I will say Foxcatcher is my favourite film of his.
I do like some of his comedies .. Like 40YOV and the first Anchorman. I don't mind that romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love either.
The man has a good range, it's good that he is finally getting some credit for it.

The Way Way Back. One of my favourite films of the last few years. Carell's character is a massive arsehole in it and he plays it really well.

I caught it on TV randomly and it surprised me by how good it was. So far Little Miss Sunshine is my favorite, but he does very good voiceover work. He plays the squirrel in the Over The Hedge strip's movie, and there's this scene after the turtle yells at him (more collectively at the group he was in, but still), and his character who is otherwise pretty goofy sulks off, and Carell says the line "I'm not stupid..." in this surprisingly nuanced tone. The dude has some range.

He's up there with my favorite actors, always found him underrated. Even on a show like The Office, where on the surface it's a lot of goofy gags and catchphrase/meme material, he gave that character so much depth. He always nailed the emotional scenes, and the way he played unfunny in a very funny way was impressive to me.

I thought that was one of his worst movies. Totally devoid of laughs.

Dan in Real Life is my favorite one. He plays so well with all the cast in it, especially the girls playing his daughters.

Foxcatcher. I've been a big Steve Carell fan since he was a Daily Show correspondent and it's incredible the amount of success he's had since as both a comedic and a dramatic actor.

Little Miss Sunshine & 40 Year Old Virgin.
Though I'm interested to see him in Freeheld.

I wouldn't say they're his best, but surely Despicable Me 1 & 2 would be higher on people's lists than Dinner For Schmucks & Dan in Real Life? Both the latter have been mentioned but neither of the former.
I have to go with 40YOV as being his best still.

I thought that was one of his worst movies. Totally devoid of laughs. Truth be told, I honestly felt Lucy Punch and Zach Galifiankis were the only good parts about that movie in my opinion.
