I knew this would happen. I called it in the thread when the news broke about bringing him in. It's like Lawler is trying to sabotage him to keep his job, even though he should've retired after the heart attack. The got rid of Fink for Lillian 15 years ago but they'll keep this corny old pedo until he dies on air. He called him "MR", and when he introduced him, he could not even pronounce his name properly.

I'm not surprised. And I also hate that I'm not surprised.
This company is broken like Marvel 2.

also what is WWE's obsession with 3 person announce team. i dont think a 3 person announce team has ever been good in any sport. if im overlooking something then it's really rare that a 3 person team has been good Some of it has to be that they know King isn't getting any younger. They need to give announcers basically any opportunity they can to gain experience, and there are only so many hours of wrestling a week they can stick guys on, unless they just shifted people out. Which, honestly, I would be okay with at points. Like, I'd even be down for Divas having their own dedicated announce team, just since it'd keep the Raw team far away from them.

Mauro Ranallo losing his patience is my most anticipated wrestling moment of 2016.

I wonder if anyone was in King's ear feeding him the shit talk? Vince knows King will walk and respects him for it, so I doubt it. Plus King's stupidity is right up Vince's alley. Shit, King doesn't even have to go to production meetings or show up to TV early like the others, just shows up and goes into the shows blind.

Haven't heard it yet, but not surprising at all. Lawler is as carny as they come & is about a decade past being useful on TV.

I don't think Lawler has ever been that good. In the attitude era he worked because of the way JR played off him. But Kings always been a bit awful

I was hoping they would phase Lawler out or maybe demote him to Superstars/Main Event with Mauro being hired for Smackdown.

The new guy sounded pretty good, though. Actually sounds like he has a bit of authority in his voice, instead of sounding really nerdy like Cole, Saxton or Brennan.

With what I've heard from Ranallo on NJPW's AXS show, he's like a non-smarmy Matt Striker, which is exactly the kind of thing WWE needs right now on the commentary booth.

WWE have always had a pathological need to publically ridicule new guys and make them look bad. I'm sure it relates to the prison culture backstage of respect/paying dues etc...and I've always thought it to be utterly moronic.

Heenan: "Piper is it true your parents ran away from home?"
*silence*
Piper: "Gorilla, you don't expect me to sit here and take this do you?"
Heenan: "No, you can leave"
Gorilla: "It's OK Hot Rod, I'll take care of it"

I didn't think it was that bad although King was definitely playing the heel or at least that is how he came off. I'm sure he was told to screw around by someone higher up.
Mauro in my opinion came off really good adding a lot of his style to the broadcast and he powered through Lawler's shenanigans with no problem.
They really need to bring Corey Graves up and replace Lawler. Graves has been pretty good as the heel commentator on NXT.

Cole needs to take a step back - he's been around forever.
