Jerry Lawler used to be great, then he was tolerable.
Now he's the dirt worst.
Go away, don't come back King. You're a detriment to the company.

I didn't think it was that bad although King was definitely playing the heel or at least that is how he came off. I'm sure he was told to screw around by someone higher up. Mauro in my opinion came off really good adding a lot of his style to the broadcast and he powered through Lawler's shenanigans with no problem. They really need to bring Corey Graves up and replace Lawler. Graves has been pretty good as the heel commentator on NXT. Mauro/Graves is the team that should take the company into the future. Cole needs to take a step back - he's been around forever. They should just keep Cole around for the weekly WWE.com interviews.

Heenan: "Piper is it true your parents ran away from home?" *silence* Piper: "Gorilla, you don't expect me to sit here and take this do you?" Heenan: "No, you can leave" Gorilla: "It's OK Hot Rod, I'll take care of it" It just makes me sad that 2/3 of this team is gone.

King said 'what you do outside of the WWE does not matter. That sounds exactly like what Alex Riley was doing on NXT commentary.

The last time I got a kick out of King was him so clearly not knowing who the hell Tyler Breeze was when he debuted on Smackdown.
"It's Tyler Breeze!"
"...........................Tyler Breeze?!".
King is terrible and as much of a detriment to the product as the booking is. Just in his own unique and shitty way.

also what is WWE's obsession with 3 person announce team. i dont think a 3 person announce team has ever been good in any sport. if im overlooking something then it's really rare that a 3 person team has been good The early Nitro 3 man teams worked well. Them rotating announcers over the course of the show worked well too.

I knew this would happen. I called it in the thread when the news broke about bringing him in. It's like Lawler is trying to sabotage him to keep his job, even though he should've retired after the heart attack. The got rid of Fink for Lillian 15 years ago but they'll keep this corny old pedo until he dies on air. He called him "MR", and when he introduced him, he could not even pronounce his name properly. I assumed that was just to set up his "Byron is BS!" joke.

Lawler is even more useless than The Local Men Local Announcer ruins everything. Jerry Lawler might just be more local than Kane and Show combined, contrary to what my signature might say.

The way King gets all flustered by people who actually do their prep and sound like it reminds me of the scene from Seeking a Friend for the End of the World where Penny's boyfriend thinks she's cheating on him and is like "what, does he have a JOB!? (turns to Dodge) MR. JOB!?!?!?"

He called him "MR", and when he introduced him, he could not even pronounce his name properly. I assumed that was just to set up his "Byron is BS!" joke. I have to admit I giggled when Lawler said that. But I came in here to also post this, it was clearly a setup so Heel King can start calling Saxton "BS" legit. I rather do enjoy King more when he's an outright heel, instead of the insufferable face King that even lost to Michael Cole at Wrestlemania. Mauro impressed me especially considering the ending to the Becky/Charlotte match {Spoiler}{Spoiler}he sold the hell out of Charlotte using the ropes for the pin. Compare this to Cole and King (and Byron I guess) remaining silent while Sasha grabbed the tights to win against Becky last week on Smackdown. King even has the nerve to tell Mauro to "calm down" cause he was really selling Becky getting screwed! The commentary team wasn't used to actually putting her over like that! King can hopefully be a little more entertaining now that he has MR to antagonize.

It's f***ing horrendous. The Chicago Bears would have 4 guys in the radio booth. Why, I dunno. Dick Butkus did nothing but scream "BALL!" during every other play (his quick term for fumble) or spouting nonsense.

I may scan through sd just to see how good/bad the commentary was. A facebook group I'm in said the commentary was very good, and that King and Mauro had good back and forth.... hmm.

Overall, it was pretty good and definite improvement. The one part particularaly bugged me was when Ranallo was bringing up Lynch wrestling different places since she was 18, Lawler replied with something to the effect of "This is WWE. Who cares what other places she worked?" Probably just to sell Lawler as being the heel color commentator, but at the same time you know that's how some of the higher ups there think. And almost made you wonder if it wasn't Lawler trying to not let Ranallo get over him. Then again, as I said, could just be me overthinking the whole thing.
