she didn't exactly set the world on fire. Most of the films she did was generic stuff like Stealth. She hasn't had any mainstream hits. Texas Chainsaw made $107 million dollars. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry made $186 million. Valentine's Day made $216 million. New Year's Eve, $142 million.

Was going to say Jessica Biel. I can understand why she'd want to get away from 7th Heaven (especially knowing what we know now about Stephen Collins), but she didn't exactly set the world on fire. Most of the films she did was generic stuff like Stealth. She hasn't had any mainstream hits. She's been in 12 marquee movies since then and was a bonafide A lister for a lot of that. She also had a kid, which explains the slow down in work. For comparison, I can't name anyone else from that show. Being married to Justin Timberlake it's not like she needs the money either.

None of which are big critical hits, and all of the those films are forgettable. They didn't take hold of public consciousness the way some films like Gravity or Hunger Games did. That's what I meant by mainstream hit.

Even if we go by your somewhat sketchy criteria for what is a hit or not, I think it's a pretty sure thing that while she hasn't had George Clooney levels of post-TV success, Jessica Biel is actually better off for leaving 7th Heaven.

If you take out Gravity, their box office isn't that different.

Olivia Wilde is a minor one. Hasn't done much since she left House to show up in Tron She's got a major role in Vinyl, which is being hyped as HBO's next big series.
