They're not dependent on him at all. Heck, he was in a mid-card match the last two years (versus Bray and versus Rusev). They could easily have a strong Wrestlemania card without him-doesn't mean it wouldn't be better with him on the card. I like Cena, but for the most part his Mania matches are only midcard matches because anyone who main events over him is usually being propped up by the part timers or the Authority. Yeah, they still rely on him far, far too much. They may use him in the midcard, but they're relying on him to boost and elevate the midcard, which is no easy feat considering what an ace job they've done burying it since over a decade ago. They also rely heavily on him for house show attendance.

Anybody check what he said on twitter about his recovery? Let's look at this. January 7 - Cena has surgery January 25 - Cena goes back to the gym for the first time January 30 - Cena's max squat is 75 pounds from his max last year which was 611 pounds February 12 - Cena's max squat is 308 pounds Watch, Cena will do some promos, do the WM match and then take time off to return to face Reigns for the belt later on. If all he's gotta do is a WM match against Taker than he might be fine.
That is music to my ears

If he's back by WrestleMania, I hereby demand a piss test ASAP. There's no way he comes back that soon without a little "help". Cocaine is a hell of a drug. I imagine John Cena is calling Peyton Manning right now and asking for his doctor's number.

Let me just chime in, since I had my rotator cuff completely rebuilt years ago. After a week, I had some movement, after a month, I was able to do maybe 25 percent motion. Took me three months to get back to fifty percent.
Cena, in ONE month, per his OWN records, went from a 75 pound lift to 300, in, what, a week? Bodybuilder or not, surgery is surgery, and THAT kind of a leap can lead to some major issues.
Same as brain damage? Of course not, apples and oranges, but, well, ideally you let surgeries heal, you follow the standard post-surgical routine. But then when mine was rebuilt, I didn't have a possibly certifiable billionaire screaming and crying on the phone every night, begging me to "push through it", so...there is that.

So when John Cena's body eventually breaks down and he has to retire, I guess we can point to this as the reason why.
I like Cena as a person, and his work ethic is impressive. But come on, man. How many more times are you going to be able to "take a gamble"?

How many more times are you going to be able to "take a gamble"? Sadly, the same determination that took Cena to the top is what could cause him to fall as well. You got to admire after all these years he still has that determination but you can only push your body so far at his age.

Cena had a complete tear, but it was of a small portion of his rotator cuff. Didn't sound like a "complete rebuild" scenario. Also, he did go from 50 pounds to 300 pounds in about 2 weeks but those were squats, which don't put much pressure on his rotator cuff.

Busting his ass to get back to wrestle a match against the Undertaker that nobody really wants to see (now there is no streak) seems like a huge risk on Cenas part.
Although if they really wanted Cena on the card for wrestlemania I suppose Taker makes the most sense as an opponent because they won't need to wrestle in the lead up.

....I don't think he's referring to coming back to WWE. I'm pretty sure that post is advice to Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose as well as some of the other guys. John wouldn't be that subtle if he was trying to come back.

Fair point, I'm no bodybuilder so I'm not big on what muscles are affected by which type of lift, but a 400 percent increase in weight two weeks is, um, a noticeable one. I'm not going for "the roidz" stuff or anything, just saying that, well, you push an injury enough (look at Orton and his now paper shoulders) and it does not ever get to "where it was", it's the law of diminishing returns. I stand by the idea that this is coming, at least in part, from "company obligation" as well as personal drive, I just think that maybe, just maybe, taking actual time to heal an actual injury might have better long term effects on the well-being of the affected surgical repair.
