The more I see of Tozawa the more I love the guy.

Very good opener for sure. The first match was concerning because one of the participants was just overdoing it with the facial expressions, but I loved it overall. Would be nice to see some segments and stories though. My fave was Cedric Alexander for sure. Kinda sad he is likely to fed to kicky mcgoo..

Just watching the first episode now...Man, someone needs to teach Hoho Lun how to emote and sell with his face. Most of the time he looks like a little kid in there.

I would love to see these Semi-Finals matches
Kota Ibushi vs. TJ Perkins Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Akira Tozawa (even though their PWG match was a huge disappointment)

The medals are a nice touch and yet another small thing that makes the CWC different from anything else they're doing.

Since this was supposed to be the official thread, I might as well throw this post on here too.
Here's who I think should be signed or not signed, ignoring people already signed in the case of Tajiri, Swann, Kendrick, Gargano and Ciampa.
THEY'RE READY, BROTHER: Ibushi, Mendoza, Aichner, Gallagher, Metallik, Alexander, Mack, Tozawa, Sabre Jr, Maluta, Perkins, Ali, Gulak, Dorado
If Raw's Cruiserweight division has even half of those guys involved, it'll be one of the finest divisions of talent ever assembled. Throw in potentially any combination of Tajiri, Kendrick, Swann, Ciampa and Gargano and it's downright criminal.
Get them in the Performance Centre: Dar, Saez, Slater, Nese, Petiot, Lee, Dux
Some of them need some fine tuning, some need personality and some need a lot of work but the stuff they all showed in the first round was enough for me to want WWE to get them in the PC to work with the trainers and potentially on NXT TV.
Get some indie bookings and improve: Johnson, Diavari, Lun.
I'm one of the few Johnson fans around here, I know, but the kid had something. He's green, rusty and needs a tonne of work but he managed to grab a crowd and build an impressive underdog story. If he can do one thing is ask everyone possible for anywhere to train, any small feds he could go to to get some time and experience under his belt because the fundamentals he has down. Diavari's problem was pretty much that he was followed up by Ali, who just blew the house down with his charisma and skill in being the big time heel. But he too has potential and I want to see him get bookings and improve and see where he is in a couple of years. Lun is also green but the potential is there.
Thanks for coming: Bennett, The Bollywood Blondes
They aren't awful workers. They just don't have much, which is a shame in some degrees because if they had more to them, they could have added to either the PC or NXT's tag division. I mean, I don't even rule them out getting more independent bookings and improving or even getting more of a showcase during the CWC but...I don't know, I can't quite see it happening.
Match of the first round, though, here's my top 5
1. Ciampa/Gargano 2. Gallagher/Aichner 3. Ibushi/Maluta 4. Mendoza/Kendrick 5. TJ Perkins/Da Mack
Ali/Dorado, Alexander/Petiot and, screw it, Tozawa/Johnson BARELY missed the list but there were so many fun matches.

Looks like someone jumped the gun and revealed the medal design before they were supposed to. But this is the internet and you can't put the genie back in the bottle. Here's a pic for those who missed it.

Dar and Sabre Jr can take a flying leap after the hype they received and the performances they put on.
Hopefully they'll pick it up but right now it bums me out that Sabre Jr is most likely gonna beat Tozawa or Metalik at some point.

I have to say the matches have been fun but my favorite parts are the fact there is a time limit and three reg checks then for foreign objects.

I know this is blasphemy to say, but ZSJ was doo-doo feces in round 1. Jack Gallagher wrestled a similar style, but actually made an effort to give a damn.

I figured this could matter here; Jack Gallagher forcing a tap out in an MMA fight in less than two minutes

I'm all caught up now. This thing has to be the most sophisticated professional wrestling presentation I've ever seen. The imaging is spot on, the stories they're telling in the ring are simple and allows for the real acrobatic stuff to stand out and the commentary is so scientific, I've never heard commentary flesh out the story of matches so well in real time, Mauro and Bryan are so good together.
I think the second half of competitors stuck out for me more. I liked ZSJ a lot more than others seemed to, his performance was dominant and rather unflinching but it's a first round match and I think that was the point in his case, to establish him as the submission wizard, he looked like a consummate pro. That Noam Dar match, it looked like Noam legitimately wrecked his back in that match, I was surprised Mauro or Daniel didn't point that out. Brian Kendrick was amazing, I love the new look and he worked the match like a killer. Jack Gallagher, Rich Swann, so many standouts. Ciampa/Gargano was match of the year quality stuff, I was pretty sour on their team up till the last couple weeks, they just felt like two singles guys who should be singles guys, and I still think they will thrive better in that world than as a tag team but I'm cool with them riding this out for a while because they have great chemistry.

I bet you the only reason they're using medals is because the Rio olympic games are going on this summer.

Watching the first week now. I love the presentation, especially making guys shake hands. As I've learned from ROH, it seems kinda corny at first but it can actually be a brilliant way to get over characters. In only the second match of the tournament, Daivari established himself as a dickhead by refusing to shake hands.

One thing ZSJ convinced me of is that, whenever he wants, he can just control a guy. It's a version of having a huge monster heel in there who can manhandle you or a guy with a knockout gimmick who can put the lights out with one punch. I fully would buy if you put him in the ring with anyone, he could just dominate them. (And I have to admit, I just love that Johnny Saint stuff.) But he has no character.
Especially compared to Gallagher. The suit and tie, the handlebar mustache, the way of carrying himself... he's got the character stuff DOWN better than anyone else in there but the longtime pros like Tajiri and Kendrick.

I think ZSJ has more long term potential than Gallagher. Gallagher, for all his talent and having a great look, seems like someone who, just based on the way WWE tends to do things, would get stuck in the low card due to management not "getting" his character.
