So it looks like the New Day are fully blown faces now that they've had their merciless beat down from really evil heels. But in context, weren't they kind of due it?
New Day have been insulting them for WEEKS. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the New Day who started the feud because of their insults. Then they made videos insulting them. They "roasted" them on Twitter. They even used a distraction to win.
In the world of wrestling, New Day deserved the beating they got. It wasn't out of nowhere.
Or am I wrong?

Because New Day is funny and people already like them.
...I don't like the reasoning either because of the traditionalist in me but that's the reality of the situation. New Day is a unique act that can get away with stuff like this.

I think part of it was how long it drug out. They had beat them down and left them laying...then they all hit their moves. I don't know if it was supposed to, but it felt gratuitous at that point.

I think that's why it went on so long. It wasn't just that they gave New Day a taste of their own medicine, it's that they kept going well after they'd already proven their point and hurt them. It's not that New Day's good, given they cheated to win two matches in a row, it's that they're the lesser of two evils.

Also, has everyone forgotten about the attitude era where the faces would talk ridiculous amounts of trash?

The WWE loves turning guys without actually turning them.
If you're a heel and the rest of your stable turns on you, that's not enough to all of a sudden be a babyface.
In the case of the New Day, they were heels feuding with other heels who just happen to cheat more, so that makes them de facto faces using this logic.
I guess because such a large segment of the crowd was into their act, the WWE figured they could skip the actual face turn part of their face turn.

New Day need to drop the belts if they're turning face. Faces should not be doing the Freebird Rule, or at the very least, have Xavier renounce his status as a tag champ.

In the modern era, your alignment is dictated by the desired crowd reaction, not attitude. Austin cheated like a mofo.

I've never dreaded a face turn more since Truth's in 2011.

New Day is a unique act that can get away with stuff like this. Basically. It's the same reason Edge and Kurt Angle so easily transitioned into being babyfaces during the Invasion angle. They'd done so much horrible stuff to people, but they were funny and entertaining so the crowd just gave them the sympathy with no question.

He went from being the cowardly heel who would weasel his way out of matches against bigger guys to someone who actually exhibited face like qualities with his fighting spirit in the matches against The Shield. The New Day even if they got beat up 4 on 3, are still a team who cheat to retain their belts through the help of a third man who is also staking a claim to those titles despite not being officially in the title matches.

I wonder if the LADS were hoping for a face pop for beating down the New Day. I mean there have been times while pushed as a heel that every member of the League was cheered as a face (Bad News Barrett is probably the best example)
All four LADS are close to the main event level (using Ziggler as a measuring stick, I'd say every LADDIE could clean beat Ziggler believably) so they might've hoped the crowd would turn their group tweener. I mean Xavier did cheat and they are heels (enough that Kofi was booed against face Brock Lesnar for trying the same thing to steal a win) so it would've been a toss up if the crowd booed TND or LoN as far as I can tell

I understand WWE just wanting to go with the flow in terms of the crowd's reaction to New Day, but it really annoys me that it's been close to a year since we've had an actual turn, and that said turn was friggin' Sheamus of all people.
