I can't see this recreating the magic of the original. I wish these resources had been directed toward rescuing the original from SD hell.

I absolutely love the show, but I have a really hard time picturing that magic being recaptured. And also it's kind of a weird one to bring back because from what I've heard it's not really a known thing in Japan and mostly is just big in the west.
Edit: Okay, no, I cannot get on board with this reading it's not focused on Naota. He's pretty much the heart of the show.

Yeah, not having it focus on Naota again is gonna suck, but the basic premise is still there.

Yeah, not having it focus on Naota again is gonna suck, but the basic premise is still there. Honestly that's another thing that makes me kind of iffy on it. It sounds like it's just retreading the same story instead of going forward with it or taking it in a different direction. Though Haruko as a teacher should be good for some laughs so there's that. Also, I would probably put money on the first episode back having another manga sequence. Screw that, where's my second season of Deadman Wonderland? Wouldn't be surprised if this is testing the waters for it. It'd likely be more expensive to produce and require more episodes to a season, so this might just be a test to see how bankable the idea is. Hell, wouldn't be entirely surprised if this takes off to finally get that third season of Big O.

I was a huge fan of the show, but I can't help to feel that this feels like a total cash grab and won't be able to recreate the magic the original show had. I'll keep my hopes up but I could see this blow up in Toonami's face big time. Maybe it's just me at this point accepting that FLCL is what it is now and I'm at peace with that. I worry it's going to have the same issue Dragonball GT and SUPER had and everyone will hate it because it will be nothing like the original.

Screw that, where's my second season of Deadman Wonderland? One of the problem that holding back a second season is the company that made the anime is no longer in business. If I remember right, this isn't the first anime that toonami help made. I think they help make Space Dandy too, hence the reason why we got the dub at the same time the show was being debut in japan.

Will the Pillows still be doing the soundtrack (for that matter, are the Pillows still active?)?

Will the Pillows still be doing the soundtrack (for that matter, are the Pillows still active?)? They're still around, they announced a few months ago they're changing labels after their next album.

If they don't bring back Kari Wahlgreen, I am done, bad enough what they did with Powerpuff Girls.

Hope this is good. I recall being pretty annoyed when it came to CN and people called it Fooly Cooly. Just thought it sounded dumb, since I was used to calling it Furi Curi (which was meant as Engrish for "Freaky"). Admittedly, I was more of an anime snob back then.
I later learned it was originally Fooly Cooly but by then it sounded right.
