Not a bad film at all. They definitely tried to make this into a fun movie like the first Guardians of the Galaxy instead of turning it into something dark and serious. And you know, it worked. But now for some comments and observations: {Spoiler} Loved Loki showing up with the other fighters during the final battle and announcing the arrival of everyone's savior.
I'm still not clear how Hulk ended up on the planet in the first place. Can anyone help? Speaking of Hulk, loved Banner falling flat on the bridge after jumping out of the ship.
I assumed Odin's disappearance and Dr. Strange's involvement were going to play bigger parts in the overall plot, but whatever.
Great to see them re-enact the Executioner's famous death scene.
Nice of them to clear up the Gauntlet was a fake, but are we to assume Loki took the Tesseract and Thanos showed up at the end to retrieve it?
Surprised they turned the Grand Master into a campy character, but Jeff Goldblum did an awesome job.
So, where's the final Infinite Stone?
My previews: Wonder, Jumanji, Pacific Rim, Downsizing, New Mutants, Star Wars and Black Panther

So, where's the final Infinite Stone? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Loki stole the movie for me. Finally the God of Mischief actually came across as mischievous, rather than nihilistic or psychotic.
I think the implication from the log footage Banner plays back is that after Age of Ultron the Quinjet carrying Hulk left Earth and fell into a wormhole, crash landing on Sakaar.
Anthony Hopkins had initially declined to return, but changed his mind after reading the script and seeing his role was vastly reduced, which is why the search for and subsequent death of Odin is pretty much glossed over. The Dr. Strange cameo wasn't even in the original script, and was put together almost on the fly before the set was dismantled.
My bet is Infinity War will deal with Thanos searching for and retrieving the final stone.

So I've never really found Cate Blanchett attractive until this movie. Hulk needs to take a step back, because Cate Blanchett was the raging fire in this one. Looks and attitude, she was insanely sexy in this.

Really like it. Better then the second, but the first one is still my favorite Marvel movie.

To those who have seen it, which trailers were shown with it? New Mutants, Alpha, Justice League, Pacific Rim 2, Last Jedi, Black Panther Really enjoyed it. Out of the three Thor movies, I’m putting this one up top. I enjoyed the whole story of this film, and the humor tops Guardians of the Galaxy 2. {Spoiler} -Little disappointed Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum did not interact. Marvel you better not let me down with Martin Freeman and Benedict in the MCU now.
-Out of all the jokes, “Des” and “Troy” was my favorite one along with the “Willy Wonka tunnel” scene.
-“Immigrant Song” was perfectly utilized in the opening fight and climatic battle.
-Goldblum stole the show.
-I loved Loki’s reaction when he saw Hulk. Me and my girlfriend could not stop laughing.
-And about the lines about the “Devil’s Anus”

OK, so... Thor Ragnarok.
I went in with pretty low expectations, to be honest. The trailers seemed to be abandoning a lot of the epic space fantasy I loved so much in the first two Thor movies for the humor of Guardians.
And I left with this simple thought - for the first time since I started watching with Iron Man, I have no clue if I liked this or not. I honestly don’t.
First thing first, Spider Man is the best Marvel of the year in my humble opinion. Ragnarok didn’t even come close. The only question is if it was better or worse than Guardians 2 and I’m undecided.
I can’t even talk too much about the movie since I want to keep it spoiler free. But let me use an analogy - say you build a house. And the house is beautiful, very cool and very much a home you enjoy spending time in. But the house may have a flaw or two that you find with time. You accept those flaws as part of the house and move on.
Then word starts coming about what it would cost to maintain and pay upkeep on the house. And it may be more than the owner, not you who lives in the house, but the owner wants to pay. So what does the owner decide to do? Bulldoze the house. They leave a foundation, just in case though.
Put another way - the audience I was watching with was... very awkward by the end. More than one rumble of people unhappy. Now, I could be wrong, this is just my view from the mountaintop and people may love this and call it the best of the Thor movies. That is their right. I just can’t agree. I’m still deciding if the destination was worth the journey.
Pretty telling that the biggest cheer came for “Thor will return in Avengers: Infinity War”.

The audience I was watching with was laughing at basically everything.

Really huge beef with the movie. {Spoiler} Add Hela to the growing list of villains killed in their first MCU movie. This is what I hate the most about the MCU; eventually you will run out of villains to use because they keep killing them off. Only Vulture, Loki, and that one guy from Civil War have lived beyond the first film.

I didn't see a body, and considering her massive power level there's no reason to say she didn't survive I'm but I'm an optimist I guess

That's where my mind was going as we never saw Hel at this point. {Spoiler}One of the things I found weird was how they kept saying that Hel got her power from Asgard, alternating with "Asgard is not a place, but its people". So... if it was the place she drew her power from, she may be toast. If it's the people, though... well, there weren't many left, but there are some. I just found it weird that they focused on those two things so much but that nobody in the film connected the two.

I will say that there are some moments that should be really dramatic that are immediately undercut by quips. It wasn't a thing that bothered me, but I could see how it would others.

Completely, yeah. I thought it recovered well enough to be taken seriously but in another scenario, I could see the momentum taken away for someone else.

Right. I was thinking specifically right at the climax that really alters the status quo for a lot of things and IS a clever resolution to a story and a big deal.
And then Korg makes a couple of silly comments.
Wasn't a huge deal, but just something you notice.
