Home release less than a month away and it's still doing money at the box office. Marvel are cashing some big goddamn cheques on this movie.

Finally saw this over Spring Break and thought it was a good movie. My brother said the 2nd half was considerably better since he thought the entire Andy Serkis subplot was crap. I sort of know what he meant, given that we're supposed to think Wakanda can technologically dominate the world yet they couldn't find Ulysses Klaue for 30 years?
Oh, and can we please put the brakes on talk of whatever new movie passing something on an all time list? I only say this because of the whole "Black Panther passes Titanic" silliness that hit the news. In terms of actual dollars I suppose so. But in terms of actual tickets Black Panther has sold about 53% of the tickets Titanic sold when you consider tickets were like 4.50 in 1997-98 and over 9.00 now.

I wonder if the plan is to keep this in theatres until Infinity War?

Do a crossover.
Black Panther goes back in time and saves Titanic. He steers the ship to Wakanda. Jack and Rose get married. But Billy Zane vows revenge. He adopts his Phantom persona but turns heel and conspires with Kiber the Cruel to take over the country.

That's a quick Home Release

That's a quick Home Release I figured they'd be wanting it out of theaters soon, anyway. Don't want to compete with themselves. Which only begs the question of why they moved Infinity War up to April. Also, why they decided to release all their movies so close together in the first place.

That's a quick Home Release 3-4 months seems to be a pretty typical turnaround for a lot of movies now, and it's gotten a lot easier as streaming keeps getting more popular (seeing as they use the same files and just compress them for whatever format they're selling). Both Thor and Jumanji are good examples of movies that came out in late November/December and they had home releases in late February.

The weird thing about the home release is that, even with how quick theater > homes turnaround is these days, the movie's still going strong in the cinemas. I'm guessing the release date was planned awhile back and not even Marvel expected it to have this sort of longevity.

Expected to pass $700 million domestically this weekend, as well as passing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 as the eighth highest grossing movie of all time.

Hey, turns out this thread isn't locked yet so might as well bump it to say I just got around to watching it.
Pretty good, really enjoyed it. Had issues with it - like thinking the opening is a bit too slow and the climax is way too cluttered (which in general I think has been an MCU problem ever since the first Avengers, feels like every movie since tries to match the scale of its climax) - but still definitely a fun ride and I'd probably say Killmonger is pretty handily the best MCU villain.

Fun flick. In my top 6 favorite MCU films.
Good cast and characters. Killmonger was wonderful and I really hope they pull some offscreen BS to have him pop back up later.

Honestly, his performance in this made me think he'd be kind of a fun Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Fanboys can't even get mad, since we got a black Harvey Dent in 1989. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I would not at all be opposed to the Snap being reversed, only to reveal that they also accidentally brought back some people who were actually supposed to be dead.

Finally watched the first half of this recently. Really good film. Wish Marvel would put out a trade collecti g the BP stuff from Jungle Action.

I would not at all be opposed to the Snap being reversed, only to reveal that they also accidentally brought back some people who were actually supposed to be dead. With time travel they can open things up for a butterfly effect - retrieve the Mind Stone from Loki's sceptre at the Battle of New York and Ultron, Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch never come to be, the Sokovia Accords never happen, so T'Chaka isn't in Vienna and so doesn't die, therefore Killmonger doesn't have a right to challenge for the throne and doesn't die after his coup fails. But then again, if Sokovia never happens, Banner never gets to Sakar, Thor doesn't escape enslavement, and then Hela eventually lays waste to Earth. Of course, Marvel wouldn't effectively retcon almost the entirety of Phase 3 for a plot contrivance to happen.
