If you owe someone an apology, yet that apology would be completely insincere, since you're not actually the slightest bit sorry, do you apologize anyway?
This is all hypothetical, you don't have to confess anything.

I don't understand the scenario. If you don't feel bad, then why are you apologizing?
Unless its mandated by your job?

I work in retail for a countrywide company, I've had to apologise for staff in stores hundreds of miles away when it was clearly a superficial apology for the sake of it being made. (basically apologising for the staff elsewhere screwing up as a common courtesy.)

I don't understand the scenario. If you don't feel bad, then why are you apologizing? Because everyone else thinks you should.

Why would an apology be insincere if I genuinely believe it is owed?

Why would an apology be insincere if I genuinely believe it is owed? I'm asking about when you do NOT feel it is owed.

If this is what I think it's about, it doesn't need to be on this board.

Is it beyond reasonable lengths of time to express your apology? *Skrillex dance beat follows*

If this is what I think it's about, it doesn't need to be on this board. "I don't want you to apologize, I want you to actually be sorry." - Mack McKenzie, Knots Landing. That was my inspiration for the thread.

Show up at their door with a basket of slugs. "I'm really sorry about that one time...put these in your garden...I've heard they're good for plants."

Only two things would cause me to give an insincere apology. If it meant keeping my job, or if it meant ending a stupid pointless fight with my wife.
