If he was arrested how can he talk to the media? It's Jerry Lawler in Memphis. He's the second most famous person in town ever after Elvis.

Even if his version of the events are true, he's guilty of assault. So is she. One does not cancel the other out. in his version of accounts it could be considered Self Defense (depending on local laws) For the scratches, yes. Not for the blocking her in the kitchen. That can be interpreted as assault or unlawful confinement. The law won't care if she was a danger to herself or others. He's a private citizen, he cannot do that.

With what reasoning? It's completely he said/she said at this point. They're right to suspend him as that is the precedent, but there's absolutely no reason to release him because of the arrest. Funny how the RESPONDING POLICE ON THE SCENE were unable to determine the aggressor, but a bunch of people on the internet have decided Lawler is 100% guilty. YOU SUCK, MCBAIN!!!!!

If he was arrested how can he talk to the media? I haven't read the article, nor am I familiar with Tennessee law. But generally, anyone can grant an interview from jail if they so wish. It's usually their attorneys that prevent communication. Investigators also might withhold evidence from the media, but they can't always prevent suspects from talking.

Jerry Lawler spoke with WMCActionNews5 from jail earlier today about his early morning domestic violence arrest and subsequent indefinite suspension from WWE.
Lawler said that he wrestled in Memphis last night at an event ironically named, “A Night in the Slammer.” When he got home, his fiancée drunk and they started fighting.
“When she drinks we get into a little bit of a shouting match and then she wants to leave,” Lawler said over the phone from jail. “I was not going to let her leave in the car, because she was not in any condition to drive. She got more and more upset.”
He and his fiancée told police very different versions of what happened, which is what led to both of them being arrested.
“It’s just an unfortunate situation. Nobody was hit and nobody was hurt. It’s just something that happened as a result of drinking too much,” Lawler said. When asked if he had a message to his fans about the arrest, Lawler said, It’s an unfortunate situation as a result of someone drinking too much. I’m saddened by it and hope we can get past this.”
Jim Ross has also posted about the incident on his website:
Shocked to hear of my friend Jerry Lawler's arrest in Memphis late Thursday night on a domestic battery charge. King's fiancé was also jailed on the same charge. Allegedly alcohol was a contributing factor in this matter that resulted in Jerry being suspended indefinitely from WWE as WWE has a zero tolerance policy as it relates to domestic violence issues.
For the record, Jerry doesn't drink whatsoever nor have I ever seen him act aggressively toward any female or anyone else for that matter. I have not spoken to Jerry recently and hope that this unfortunate matter can be resolved quickly and efficiently.

Sorry, but I dont get it. What exactly is the joke? My entire post was sarcasm. Hence why I made the "are you Lawler himself" comment. It wasn't even close to being serious but it seems as though people actually thought it was.

It's really hard telling just what the situation is, especially given other than on the subject of the gun - and even then only to a degree - the stories aren't incompatible with each other. Not saying this did happen, but it's entirely possible that the fiancee started it then King responded with an excessive amount of force, or something akin to that. I don't know, it's not my job to say really, but this is completely up in the air right now as to who if anyone's in the right. They do match to an extent. I mean she says he held her down in the kitchen against the stove. He admits to holding her in the kitchen after she attacked him because she was drunk and trying to take her car out. So basically all we know so far is there was an incident. He held her in the kitchen. the cops couldn't figure out who was the victim and who was the aggressor immediately and arrested both of them. The WWE suspended Jerry in accordance to the 0 tolerance plicy. the cops will investigate and the charges against one (or both potentially) will be dropped. This needs to be the copy and paste version of the events going on until more information is dropped. Like this is usually standard procedure in most domestic cases unless one needs to be taken into the hospital or one is waving a knife in the air.

I am just struck by how much Jerry looks like the Heat Miser in his mugshot. All he needs is the wig
