Twas surprisingly easy picking round 28 as most contestants this season more than once beat me to an artist and had me like this The tricky part for me was picking which artist to double up on from the guys who have already been eliminated. There were a lot of artists I intended to use who I got beat to, so I'm glad I get to use two of them here.

To whomever chose "Montezuma": I love you, but also, you son of a bitch. EDIT: Z-A is the only one of us who didn't one of our artists double dipped RIP.

So hey, I know I've been eliminated, but I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that I used Phillip Phillips earlier this season, so that song sure as hell shouldn't be allowed.
Please continue.

Shrugs. Happens sometimes. I had a span of rounds, like four or five, where I missed a repeat one season and Peg had to catch them. Dems the breaks.

So, much of the reason it took so long to post this round was because the judges went through a lot of discussion (and some arguing and some food throwing) over what themes to choose. Every judge submitted at least one idea, and eventually we decided on 3. So here now are: Round 29: Judges' Leftovers Let's finally dispose of those leftovers, much like the tiny onions in the now-green cream sauce in the back of all of our refrigerators (especially J's, the poor fella lost power in his place for most of the week. ) 1: Non-Traditional - Any song where the vocals contain at least a little bit of some sort of non-traditional vocal sounds (laughter/talking/mouth sound effects, something other than singing/rapping.) 2: LIVE - A live performance that took place in a notable arena (Wembley/MSG/Hollywood Bowl/somewhere ultra famous) or at a big festival (Woodstock/Live Aid/etc.) or otherwise a live performance in front of a really big crowd. 3: WAY out of the comfort zone - A song from an artist or genre you normally dislike or even hate.

I was just now clicking on the thread to post that I can't even be mad about any results after that set of submissions. But then I saw the results were posted. That's what a Top 4 set of songs should sound like. Much love to the competitors.

Incredibly high level of competition. Double Dipping your own songs resulted in an almost impossible group of four songs to judge.
I had: Previously Eliminated songs: Big Star - "Thirteen" Belle and Sebastian - "Piazza, New York Catcher" Alice In Chains - "Man In The Box" Stone Temple Pilots - "Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart"
Top 4 Modest Mouse - "The World At Large" The Black Keys - "Gold On The Ceiling" Arcade Fire featuring David Bowie - "Reflektor Fleet Foxes - "Montezuma"
Not Used Yet Urban Dance Squad - "Deeper Shade Of Soul San Fermin - "Jackrabbit" Jens Lekman - "Become Someone Else's" The Japanese House - "Face Like Thunder"
Not a single weak song in the bunch. Big Star was different enough to get my vote, Modest Mouse had a fantastic structure, and Urban Dance Squad bent musical genres in a way I loved. Criminal to rank Arcade Fire that low, Gold on the Ceiling is a bona fide number one song in most rounds, and San Fermin was gorgeous. Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots are two of my favorite bands, but they were just a shade too familiar for me.
Just razor thin differences for the round. Completely lived up to the potential for a double dip round this late in a season of this high a quality.

This shit is ridiculous.
I say this with all sincerity every one of these songs are good enough for a number 1 ranking in any round of this game ever.
Previously Eliminated
1. Big Star - This is a band I always hear about but never got into. I think it's finally time. 2. Stone Temple Pilots - Straight up, at the start of this song it was in fourth. By the middle I'm all about it. 3. Alice in Chains - Undeniable 4. Belle & Sebastian - Damn, Belle & Sebastian deserved better. Just an unlucky draw.
Top 4
1. Arcade Fire - When I think Arcade Fire this is definitely not the sound I think about. Damn it's soooo good 2. Fleet Foxes - Just gorgeous, I could listen to this all day. 3. The Black Keys - Now THIS is an band Ohio can be proud of (we're sorry about Twenty One Pilots you guys) 4. Modest Mouse - And just like that I'm transported back to 2005. Driving around in my shitty Plymouth Neon, listening to my local indie station (shout out CD 102.5)
Not Yet Used
1.San Fermin - This entire song just has a epic feel to it 2.The Japanese House - Damn listen to Imogen Heap Jr. over here! I mean that in the absolute best way possible, I think I'm in love. Aaaand downloaded! 3. Urban Dance Squad - This is why I love Fan Idol. Never in a million years would I expect this song to show up 4. Jens Lekman - My man here kind of sounds like a happy Morrissey. I'm really digging it.

After sending in my songs, I'd just like to say that RadcapRadsley has my undying respect for using "Montezuma". That's all.

Montezuma is one of my fave songs ever, honestly not sure why I didn't ever use it in an earlier season.
Question about 1: Non-Traditional
How long does the non traditional element have to be in the song, are we talking 15-20 seconds of a track or half the song or more.
