Any DLC's probably going to come from PC mods. Makes sense given the designer's origins in the fan game community. THE FAN GAME COMMUNITY?!?!

One thing I want to say, is that I hope this end the argument that every game reviewer either is bias against or hate Sonic and hence that the only reason why Sonic game don't get a 8/10 or higher everytime.
Sonic Mania prove that people actually like Sonic. It just that they like good sonic game not the half ass stuff that Sega been pumping out since the end of the Dreamcast.

Shouting bias is easier than admitting that something you're a fan of isn't as great as you think it is. I liked Colours & Generations but if review scores weren't a bloody stupid system where a 7 is somehow a bad score then they're be floating in the 7.5-8 range.

That remind me that I need to play Color. I bought a while ago but haven't got the chance to play it yet. For Generations, I like the game, I own it for my 360 and 3DS but I felt like there was something missing from it. The boss fight were kind of boring and the level choices seem odd to me. To me, Mania feel like a more complete/polish game then Generations was.

While the games aren't as well known, I feel the 3DS version could have benefited from remixes of Game Gear levels. Console is a bit tricker, though the fact they didn't have a Sonic CD level (save for the Metal Sonic fight) was odd.

Sega actually held fan polls as to what zones they should have in Generations. Although it didn't ruin the experience for me, I do think there were too many city and "nature" zones.

With Generations, I personally would rather have seen more emphasis on the Genesis-era levels than later games. Why not an updated Death Egg zone or Oil Ocean? Speed Highway and City Escape were fun and all, but there was a lot of potential with taking older levels and doing something new with them, which Sonic Mania has fortunately given us instead. Plus, as you get on in Generations, the levels are kind of less and less new and by the time you get to Planet Wisp, it's pretty much the same level as Colors.

One of the problem with the 3DS version is that they got lazy and just straight up port the first zone of the Genesis level for Classic Sonic.

I really wish they had gone with levels from the handhelds instead. Game Gear Era to Advance Era to Rush/Rivals era.

What kills me about the bosses in the console version of Generations (I love Big Arm in the 3DS version and the music is great so there) is the only boss that was actually interesting to update was Metal Sonic. The Death Egg Robot was already done a year prior in Sonic 4 and all of the rest were fine in their original games with the exception of Silver and, depending on your level of hatred towards the Werehog, Egg Dragoon. Like, who asked for another Silver fight? Even in the 3DS version, Biolizard was fine to begin with and Egg Emperor wasn't improved from Heroes. I... I don't know.

The game gear game wasn't as good as the Genesis one and it had some bad one but 1, 2, chaos and Triple Trouble were pretty good 8 bit sonic game and had some awesome music too. The advance and rush game were probably the only good thing about Sonic during the dark age of 00s. I'm happy that Sonic Mania has reference to the game gear and the 8 bit version of Sonic 2 and Triple Trouble.

I did like the twist that you had to fight Perfect Chaos as normal Sonic and not Super Sonic. 1)Made it a slight more challenge (and could see Sonic thinking that in-story) and 2)From a story standpoint, shows how Sonic has grown between Adventure and Generations.
