I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to Zack Snyder. But I truly feel bad for him in this situation simply because I do believe his heart, mind, and soul was in the right place and wasn't trying to make a bad film. I definitely feel sorry for him, because he clearly has tried his hardest to earnestly make the best movies possible, but at the same time it was a simple case of him not being up to the task. There’s no shame in that, but it doesn’t excuse his work and his decisions from criticism. Do people go to far and criticise him personally? Sure. I’ve even done it myself, but that’s what happens when fans are disappointed when something they’re passionate about doesn’t live up to their expectations. I don't, I'm glad he's getting all the flak that he and his wife deserves. They took DC's Big Three and put out a bastardized version of them that even Frank Miller wouldn't think up of. Batman is a serial killer who maims and brands people. Superman is a brooding emo who gives up and sulks like a teenager. And Wonder Woman regularly soaks her outfit in the blood of people she's killed.

While I agree his aim on the DCCU was off from what mainstream audiences wanted, and other aspects of MOS and BVS were off, I do feel bad for the dude. He got picked to start all this shit off for D.C., had a maligned aim on it. And then his daughter commits suicide. I'm glad it seems he's just stepping away for the time being..

I believe if they just let him handle actual directing while letting someone who knows material handle the writing it'd be a different story. Zack, along with his wife I feel, were in a situation where they felt dark and gritty was what brought success to DC/WB in general and they stuck with it. They were of the mindset of "Why fix it if it's not broken?" Yes, his intentions with Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman were completely out of character. But you can't knock the man for attempting something new. As far as Batman maiming people. Batman has broken arms, jaws, and legs before in the comics so it's not that out of character for him to do.

Snyder is good stylistically. As a director. But he tried to add substance to MOS/BVS. He would have been far better off just coming off stylish.

I can never hate Snyder since he did Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, and Man of Steel. For me those are great films and Batman vs. Superman wasn't bad, in my opinion, he just attempted to do much rather than just have the story primarily focus on Batman and Superman. I can't say I fully blame him for at least trying to do something different overall.

I actually loved what they did with Superman in that trailer - enough to know he's in the movie, but doesn't spoil his big comeback scene and action thereafter. I didn't want that spoiled for me anyway, I want those moments to be seen for the first time on the cinema screen as they should be and i'm glad they will be.
I didn't want it to be the Doomsday reveal in Batman v Superman's final trailer all over again. WB have learned from that mistake.

I think overall Snyder's vision for Batman probably worked better than Superman, but even that had no real coherent backstory to it. You're kind of locked into a certain framework with Superman. The character has to be, well, Superman. Anything else doesn't really work. It's basically impossible to do emo, brooding Superman because it isn't the character and there's no reason for it. Batman suddenly becoming The Punisher could be kind of cool but you have to really set this up. In B vs. S we aren't given enough rationale as to why he's suddenly this on the edge nut other than the brief bit of the Robin costume that had been defaced by The Joker. There needed to be a movie with Jason Todd Robin in it where he dies at the end, and then that sends Bruce Wayne over the edge to where he's now like "No more Mr. Nice Guy."

I like that they seem to really have a strong (relatively drama free) team dynamic. I like when teams actually act like teams and not just reluctant co-workers in team-up stories.

Yes, I am definitely glad they're saving it for the actual movie too. It'll be that much more special, triumphant, and exciting when he shows up and participates in the action taking place. Although I wouldn't be surprised if {Spoiler}that scene with him and Lois is at the end of the film too.

The Superman Returns tease doesn't work for me because I found him (and Lois) so dull and unlikable in the previous films I don't care if he comes back or not.

But then BvS trailers had me amped and we know what a garbage fire that was.
Wonder Woman has given me hope. We'll see.

I got the new trailer before Blade Runner 2049. Got my fingers crossed for you, DC/Warner Bros. Keep that post-Wonder Woman momentum going.
Flash does feel a bit Marvel-ish, but this universe needs all the levity it can get.

I feel Marvel's humor at times is too much and takes away the seriousness of what's taking place. Dr. Strange, Civil War, and Age of Ultron was very guilty when it comes to the overly comedic aspects of the story.

The big battle stuff looks like generic, confused, firey horseshit, but I’m hopeful the character interaction in the rest of the movie is up to standard.

You're saying the big battle scenes look generic, confused, and firey horseshit and yet you've only seen like two seconds of the actual battle? Seems logical.

I dunno, any time they're showing the fighting, it does look a little video-gamey. I'm hopeful it plays out better, but it's a valid concern.
