No offense to anyone who may work at one but swear the Walmart here hires the stupidest people on freaking purpose sometimes!

There isn't a single walmart employee who could look at their coworkers and dispute that.

I wore a Dean Ambrose shirt yesterday, and when I went to Walmart, a kid there came up to me, to let me know that I am not Dean Ambrose. I was able to make that connection myself, lol

I went there because a friend told me they had WWE 2K16 on sale for 20 bucks. I went back to electronics to get it and ended up waiting 45 minutes while someone figured out who had the game case key.

I print pictures for scrapbooking there, pretty often, and there's never anyone at the counter, when I go to pay, so I wait until someone comes up. A few times, the employees looked at me, surprised that I didn't just take the pictures, and walk away

I worked in the hardware/housewares/paint/practically everywhere else section of Walmart for a year and a half, and I can totally attest that they do not hire the brightest people. Half the people that work there are probably too doped out of their mind to function, or just don't have common sense.

I can't stand Walmart.
I avoid them as much as possible.
No one there seems to f***ing care to do their job. They never ask if you need help, they're too busy talking amongst themselves.
The stores are never very organized. From my experience working at other retail stores, I would've been fired if my section wasn't properly faced.
The sad thing is...most people don't care. As long as they can get things cheap at any time, they'll put up with the fact that the store is trashy. There was a time when Walmart was pretty upscale (it was K-Mart that was trashy), but these days quality doesn't seem to be on many people's minds, unless it's to showboat what you could afford.
I never come out of Walmart having a pleasant experience, and to me, that's what I feel I should be paying a little extra to get.

I work in the toys section at Target and yeah if my section didn't look perfect my boss would lose it. If i was seen not trying to help customers I wouldn't have said job.

Whats funny is everyone talks from an outsider point of view
I get chewed out for not being as f***ing cheery and helpful as everyone else...hell we have a new f***ing rule where if were working at Self checkout, were not supposed to be near the customer because it's "too invasive", but be out redlining so that Self checkout is actually being used, and i legit have customers snapping on me for even SUGGESTING self checkout.
IF IT'S NOT ONE THING IT'S ANOTHER

I used to work at a Wal*Mart run with an iron fist. At least, it felt like it at times. Especially when we'd get people that transferred from other Wal*Marts that would be shocked when they're told, "Go back to your department and finish stocking," by management when they'd stop by another department to chat with the people working there. I worked the night shift (10pm-7am, though it often went until 8:30 to 9) and there wasn't a ton of customer service to be done. Most of my coworkers were good workers, but some sucked ass. There was one guy that fell asleep on a forklift, while it was running, driving into the back of the building. His defense when he was woken up was something like, "I didn't sleep well because I had nightmares about you," to the night manager. Yeah, that went over well. He was later fired for not working. He was supposed to work HBA (stocking shelves and working the counter for customers) but decided to just take the tags off the boxes and mark them as if they'd been gone through, restack the pallet, and then piss off to talk to other people.
I had to stay an extra two hours that morning to stock the department (some shelves were completely freaking empty) because he didn't do his job and the department manager was in a meeting and couldn't do it herself.
I was someone that would work any department with at least some degree of competence, so while I mostly worked in the Garden Center and/or the Sporting Goods/Automotives departments, I could be moved elsewhere to cover others. Or I'd finish my stocking in my department and move to another that was overloaded with stock. That's when you can chat, when you're working and actually helping them. Not just standing around with a thumb up your arse talking to other employees and ignoring both your job and the customers.
That shit really annoys me. You're there to work, so f***ing work and do your job. Nobody is asking that you love it and praise it, but at least f***ing do it, and try to do a good job of it.

And he's got the same marching orders as you from his boss. I may bitch about retail customer service but it's because I've been doing it most of my life at this point since my first job at 15. I guess that makes me both more and less tolerant if that's a thing.

I would say to file a complaint, but I'm pretty sure they donate their complaints and unread applications to halfway houses as toilet paper.

I bet they didn't ever lose the video game case key. It has changed somewhat since I worked there. Now they've moved it outside of town and it's a Super Wal*Mart. The electronics team is largely incompetent, but they at least try to be helpful and have a couple sets of keys so there's always somebody there with them. I can deal with incompetence if they're at least friendly and trying to be helpful. For instance, there was a specific TV on sale. I purchased it online for in-store pick-up. They set mine aside in the online pick-up area. As I was driving out to pick it up, a new employee was asked by a customer if they had any more of those in stock. He went to the back to look, saw mine, and took it for the customer that was there. They sold my TV out from under me. Now, they didn't know there was a hold on it. When I came to pick it up and the error was discovered, they were very sorry (earnestly so) so I didn't make a big stink out of it. I asked if they could check and see if there was a replacement on a truck coming that night, and if there was, I would pick it up then. The manager was called over and thanked me for my courtesy and gave me a $50 gift card for the hassle, which was nice. So, while they made an error they did try to make good on it. They even offered me a larger TV that they had there, but I needed one with a faster response time (which is the main reason I wanted that specific one). Anyway, the customer service made up for the mistake in my view. At least they freaking did something instead of ignoring me like I didn't exist. I am not as critical of retail workers, after having worked retail. Still, there are some things that annoy the shit out of me. I don't get mad at the little old woman that can't reach the items at the top when there's a sign that says "ask for assistance for items on the top shelf". I sincerely doubt she was the one that put it there, and I don't expect her to be able to reach it. However, if she doesn't have the wherewithal to ask another associate for assistance, that error is on her. And for all of you cashiers, I salute you. You take the brunt of the angry customer interactions, regardless whose error made them angry. I have so many retail stories about bad customers. Many more than poor service or bad workers.

I'm not a Walmart employee, but I am a cashier. The past few weeks, I've been called useless, had threats for things that I didn't do. (One customer yelled at me, because his receipt didn't print). Friday, I was helping a customer, and he was talking quietly with his head down. I told him I couldn't understand what he was saying, so he told me he was going to call the cops, and see if I "get it" then. My eyes hurt from trying not to cry because of how mean people can be, then when I do cry, it hurts more. That's also part of why I try to be polite and treat the employees well, when I'm a customer anywhere.

Like I said working retail has made me both more and less tolerant of other retail workers. I'm very good about not completely flipping out because I've had it done on me before....if I vent about stuff like this it's never in the store. But on the other hand, like with the electronics case key situation I'm like okay I get accidentally taking them on break with you...I've done it too but my store always kept 2 spare copies at the register in electronics just in case of that situation.

I always try to avoid as much as possible. Not because I rather support other retail stores or lesser evil corporate stores, it's because my nearest Walmart has the most bat shit amount of people. Like a guy who thought it would be funny to pepper spray everyone in the store or muggings or security guards practicing there MMA movesets on shop lifters or a guy threatening to kill himself. It's weird like it's a nice area of town but for some reason it's the hoodest Walmart.
Also worst of all it doesn't have a self checkout

The walmart in Valley Stream NY is the absolute biggest shithole I have ever visited . The employees stand around talking & playing on their phones , the store is always packed with lowlife thrash customers . The cashiers have such bad attitudes , & the return desk is equal to visiting the dmv . They dont wanna return stuff without giving a good reason and alway have to escalate to a manager to get anything done . This is the walmart a man was trampled on black friday mobile.nytimes.com/2008/11/29/business/29walmart.html?_r=0
