a simple pill ingested by a man who received a simple idea, a simple thought, so clear and sharp that it cut through his mind like a soft cheese and led him to an invention. every now and then, there are new modalities, new ways of being and understanding our world. this invention, my invention, will change everything. for the better, one hopes. but the good of the scorpion is not the good of the frog, yes? a-ha-ha...
...coucahacahchaouhchach....
you must excuse me. i've grown quite weary.
finally, my friends, at long last the day has come. we have the means, the understanding, the technology...to allow spiders to talk with cats!

A lot of people have referenced the more recent seasons, which is perfectly fine, as they've all ranged from pretty good to great, but for my money, even though the episode is (WOW) 10 years old, "The Gang Gives Back" from season two is still my absolute favorite episode. It's the pinnacle of the show, it gives every character something to work with and they think they're doing good, redeeming work when they're actually making matters worse for themselves, and it's one of the earlier signs that everyone and everything that The Gang touches goes to absolute hell.
I'm hard pressed to find a funnier single scene in the series' history than the basketball game. From the moment the ball is tipped off, it devolves into total chaos for everybody in the gymnasium. And it's brilliantly funny.

And it's brilliantly funny. I think the second season overall had some magic that no other season had. As good as the next few seasons would be, season 2 will always be the perfect season. For me, anyway. Season. Season.

Season 2 is beautiful. Every episode is a masterpiece. I love the subtle things.
-after Mac bangs Barbara Reynolds, and Dennis witnesses him walking out of the house, you see Mac in the background walking with his arms extended.
-Charlie reading the Waitress' phone number: "Wow...I was so close!"
-Dennis picking the black kids for his basketball team.

Even better than that is Charlie's actual date, when he tries to tell the woman he's a philanthropist, but the closest he can come is full-on rapist.

Just finished Season 11 here using Amazon instant video. $2.99 an episode. Money well spent. I do have Netflix and have already watched season 1-10 more times than I can remember.
Great stuff.

What's everyone's favorite episode from each season? Mine are:
Season 1 - Underage Drinking: A National Concern Season 2 - Mac Bangs Dennis Mom Season 3 - The Gang Dances Their Asses Off Season 4 - The Nightman Cometh Season 5 - The D.E.N.N.I.S. System Season 6 - A Very Sunny Christmas Season 7 - The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore Season 8 - Charlie and Dee Find Love Season 9 - Mac Day Season 10 - Charlie Work Season 11 - Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs
That was tougher than I expected. I definitely think the show was at its peak during the first four seasons. But I think every season has at least 2 or 4 classics.
