I'll say this. It's nice to see Punk coming out to Cult of Personality and dude did display heart and some legit BJJ skills.

I do hope we see Punk go back to wrestling at some point though. Even if it's not WWE. I want Punk to come back to wrestling. I don't want him to come back to WWE. Like I would rather see Punk use his name value and money to elevate another promotion into being a viable option for other wrestlers rather than coming back to WWE only to be the very thing he was crusading against.

Punk moved toward Gall like a video game character. Like, if you just hold the trigger right on the UFC video game, that's exactly how the character would move.

Taht was my exact thought process seeing that. I do hope we see Punk go back to wrestling at some point though. Even if it's not WWE. I want Punk to come back to wrestling. Like I would rather see Punk use his name value and money to elevate another promotion into being a viable option for other wrestlers rather than coming back to WWE only to be the very thing he was crusading against. 1. I don't see Punk bringing his money to any company, he's not a complete moron. 2. there are very few wrestling companies on the planet that are going to be willing or able to pay what Punk feels is worth his while to come out of retirement.

I was looking at reddit and the majority of people on r/squaredcircle are shitting on/laughing at Punk and the majority of people r/mma are praising Punk for even trying it. I just think it's interesting seeing what a lot of MMA fans think of the fight compared to wrestling fans. Or at least the hardcore internet fans anyway. Indeed I'm trying to figure out how that part of the MMA fandom, which normally has the reputation of being arrogant dudebros who'd look down their nose at anything wrestling related, became more generous and pragmatic than that part of the wrestling fandom, which just seems to be going to town on Punk's failure (but don't dare that BIG BAD WWE make fun of him).

Punk is everyone past 35 playing competitive shooters against some 17 year old Mountain Dew/Doritos loving teenager. That's all I thought when I saw that. For his next fight Gall has Mountain Dew, Doritos, and Call of Duty logos on his trunks. Now I want a new WWE group with an Esports player MLG Pro gimmick against the New Day

Didn't watch/care about the fight, but I agree with the following points
- why respect (see various wrestling/MMA aficionados tweets) Punk like that for cashing tons of money and get beat up for 2 minutes? I'd get beat up like that for a tenth of that money, for 20 minutes!
- Punk should fight against weaker opponents. I think everyone agrees here?
- Funny how oh-so-real-and-intense-and-serious UFC has a sideshow circus match like this. "pay to see former ex-wrestling star get mauled!"

Punk moved toward Gall like a video game character. Like, if you just hold the trigger right on the UFC video game, that's exactly how the character would move. It's a product of inexperience. Having enough to know, mechanically, how stuff should look but not understanding the right contexts to use it in. He's moving forward in this idea of a very tight stance because that's what he's been taught but he doesn't understand that Mickey's too far out to hit him so there's no need to be that tight the whole time. It's the same thing in his open workout. He gets his hooks in on his opponent, rolls the wrong way to try and take his back and goes for a choke. But he doesn't put the other hook in. Then, when he goes to get the choke he finally puts the hook in. Because he knows what it's supposed to look like. He's seen rear naked chokes before, and maybe done a couple. But he doesn't have the experience to understand why those hooks are there. I don't know how in two years you don't learn that, but I don't know, that's the feeling I have. I worry his training team didn't correct him the way they should have sometimes.

I'm one of the bigger CM Punk haters around here but seeing this actually made me feel kinda sad for him.

He's a dickhead, he got his ass kicked. Sideshow's over, folks. But please, let's not start campaigning for him to return to the WWE, now. That would benefit no one.

And here's further proof of White saying that Punk's next fight shouldn't be in the UFC.

Do you think he even has any value for the WWE to come back? I think it would be stupid as hell to hire him back as a main-eventer after last night's match.
Seriously, if he isn't going to be a jobber in a squash match, then it would just make wrestling as a whole more ridiculous.

He gave it a shot, it didn't come off but you have to admire his guts. He must surely have known there was a good chance he was going to get his ass kicked but he still went ahead with it.

Man, I do kinda feel bad for him. Like, I figured he'd lose, but thought he'd at least get some offence in, ya know?
