It's baffling how badly Ubisoft mucked this up.

You have to imagine Disney has not been happy with EA's incompetence and lack of ability to produce anything beyond two "triple A"-type games, keeping SWTOR up in maintenance mode more or less, and some smartphone games. You'd think their legal wizards would've given them some sort of "out" clause to dump EA before their contract officially runs its course.

SWTOR's gotten a bunch of big updates in that time though.
Literally all of the expansions have come since EA got the licence the last being in 2016... but they ahve been still putting out big patches ever since...
so saying it's in Maintenance mode isn't really factual.

Knights of the Fallen Empire was an entire expansion without a single new dungeon (not counting those stupid Star Fortresses that you could easily solo with any decent purple gear) or raid. The story chapters were alright, but for an MMORPG it was really lacking in "multiplayer" things to do. I called it maintenance mode because it had been literal YEARS without any real new endgame content besides like, a couple of new warzones, with KOTET feeling like a last hurrah more than a commitment to delivering on semi-regular new content.

Kingdom Hearts III is imminent, but we're not in the business of just letting you enjoy games around here. Let's talk about how awful Kingdom Hearts is.
I mean... it's a good game. A great game. But it is also awful, stupid, and utter gibberish.

He's not wrong.
Square enix forgot how to actually write coherent stories a long time ago.
At least the square side did

At least the square side did I want yo say this has been an issue at least as far back as FF7 but didn't become an obvious problem until 13. They're kinda like Vince Russo in a Way. "Why write a basic plot when you can write a convoluted one?"

Pretty much any Square Enix project where Kazushige Nojima has been involved as a significant part of the development team has been a clusterf*** of meandering and convoluted storylines. Or if it wasn't at first glance, it goes becomes one with later spinoffs or sequels.
At least Tetsuya Nomura has talent as an artist even if he isn't a good director. Nojima's been a hack living off his past successes for decades now.

KH 1 is relatively straightforward storywise... it's not till the spinoffs and sequels where they started retconing things to make them even more convoluted.

If you gave me KH1's storyline with KH2's gameplay improvements, I would've liked that game a whole lot.

Sadly I think they honestly believe their games are really smart and deep or something.

Decided today, because Fallout 76, to give his stuff a look for the first time. Kind of digging it.
I'll definitely need to give the Kingdom Hearts video a look. Even in the first game I never cared that much about the series's plot and 2 killed dead any remaining interest I had. Which is kind of funny given I think as an actual game I think 2 is miles better than 1.

As Electronic Arts produces a spreadsheet to let customers when they can play Anthem, The Jimquisition takes a look at the concept of the confusopoly, where companies try to befuddle their customers on purpose.
We also look at how they're exploiting FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out - in order to guarantee those confusing sales.

Is Jim still doing Cultaholic wrestling videos?
I have only seen one, and I don’t recall any other popping in my sub feed.
