One thing that really doesn't make a ton of sense with all this...
Sins Past happened while Harry was going through a drug withdrawl... BEFORE he was Green Goblin 2.
and like why did Gwen tell Mary Jane about it... was that more Mysterio?
this is unbelievably and unnecessarily complicated and convoluted...

Gwen's entire conversation with Mary Jane and Norman about her kids were a false memory put in MJ and Norman's heads by Mysterio under instructions from the Harry A.I

I mean yes but the original story was dumb as hell so any retcon doesn't really have the choice but to be dumb too

Peter once drank a serum that gave him 4 extra arms and the cure involved Morbius and the Lizard.
Silly is sort of what you're signing up for with Spidey.

I understand the nature of retcons means you're trying to find logic in poking holes into the past... but this story sounds like nonsense.

Remember when it wasn't Magneto, it was Xorn's twin brother who looks just like Magneto pretending to be Xorn pretending to be Magneto?

Remember when it wasn't Magneto, it was Xorn's twin brother who looks just like Magneto pretending to be Xorn pretending to be Magneto? There's some similarity there between Xorn and Kindred. Both are the products of writers who thought Magneto and Harry's best days in the comics were spent as villains and showed little concern for the more redemptive stories that came after those eras were over...where as Marvel did and thus had to really 'reach' for resolutions to all that. Sometimes it's simple, sometimes it's...well...that.

Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Superman writer, again said on a podcast today he fully expects DC to 'deage' Jon Kent, but that he won't be the one doing it...
...He's totally going to be the one who does it isn't he?

I can't wait for Spencer to be off ASM it's gone downhill fast In some ways, it's partially his fault, but that's to be expected when you suddenly drop everything you're doing for Substack money. Marvel are clearly scrambling to finish up early and throwing together this 'Beyond' arc to stall until issue 900 where they hope to have a definite long-term writer locked in. Bendis had confirmed Marvel had approached him for a new gig, but he didn't want it.

It's just frustrating that Spencer decided it was worth 70+ issues of wheel spinning and vague allusions to tell this story, when he probably could have just structured a more interesting run. Like, considering how much exposition dump was in the last issue, why not just have Sins Past retconned in a 4-6 issue single arc, instead of this decompressed 4 year long mystery? Then just focus on a strong standalone narrative rather than having to rely on calling back to one most people are happy to forget.
It's kind of similar to some of the problems Tom King's Batman run had, with all the callbacks to Flashpoint and the like, and the bizarre left turn the final issues took.

Finally got around to reading the final few volumes of Fables. I had stopped at Cubs in Toyland; it felt like after the Adversary story was wrapped up, it just started running out of steam.
Having finally finished, it REALLY ran out of steam.
