Yeah, I watched that era and that is absolute bull. Even when TNA's writing has been horrible there has been in ring action that's made it worth a peek while the mid 90s WWE didn't have that by and large, yeah there were good Bret and Shawn matches but they did not outweigh the cavalcade of often plodding crap we got inbetween. From 1993-6 the product was nearly completely unwatchable and not just because of the jobber squashes, the gimmicks and booking were flat out insulting, like something that would be shown as a parody of wrestling on a comedy show, you could have debuted Dr. Hillbilly and the Iron Yuppie and they wouldn't have seemed out of place, they would have been a step up from middle aged Jerry Lawler and his foot fetish, his ugly dentist, wrestling plumbers and a smiling Nascar driver because at least they're mildly humorous. It's pretty telling that the moment WCW started offering a better product once they'd gotten over the 'let's recreate the 80s for the Hulkster!' phase, people turned over in droves. I'm not saying TNA was always garbage, but in terms of production and overall talent, specifically the M.E scene, 93-97 WWF is better than TNA is now, or ever was. Despite all of the flaws with the WWF in that era, I never, as a viewer, felt like I was watching a second rate program, let alone one that looks like it's gonna die The WWF seemed better than it was purely because WCW was worse prior to Nitro, once they upped their game the WWF's shows really did seem second rate in term of talent, writing, in ring action and production values. WCW had Brian Pillman v Jushin Thunder Liger, the WWF retaliated with a show featuring Isaac Yankem vs Scott Taylor and let's not forget all the wonderful big time things the WWF did around that time, remember Billionaire Ted? How about having Sunny with a Bill Clinton impersonator? Fake Diesel and Razor, the desperate yet halfhearted attempts to ape anything that worked for WCW from factions, heel bosses (JR then Vince in reaction ro Bischoff) to their godawful lightheavyweight division. You may not feel like you were watching a dying, second rate company but that's how it came off at the time.

I heard that Billy Corgan and Dixie Carter were seen digging up one of their yards trying to find coffee cans full of money like in a scene from National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation.

There are alternatives: ROH, Evolve, NJPW, a whole number of indies - you don't need a bad alternative. None of them have a weekly 2 hour show on cable. I don't want to be spoon-fed only what the McMahons want me to watch. Watch LUCHA UNDERGROUND

So, long story short, the idea that TNA needs to stay around as it's the only alternative to WWE is false 1000x over. Even more, Lets say it stay around, Which given it's mutant roach like abilities for surviving isn't impossible. It's not even an alternative, Not when they use their own TV time to have former WWE talent mention the competition as much as possible and come off as bitter cry babies. The only thing they have really given that's of any interest is EC3 and the Broken hardy's and the hardy's came up with their stuff on their own. Honest question, ROH is for the purists, Chikara is for the comic nerds, CZW is for the fans of hardcore garbage wrestling, GFW is still figuring out what it is, Lucha Underground is for fans of lucha libre and has gained a steady and growing following and WWE is for people who want a mix of wrestling and entertainment. What about TNA sets it apart? TNA is for the kings and most sinister type of fans. The ones who want WWE style without WWE. The one who want WCW around but aren't sure why. Competition isn't the correct word here, as has been evidenced by their attempts at competing. Their identity is literally "almost WWE"

The more important question; do the Hardys own the rights to the Final Deletion/Delete or Decay footage? If they financed it and presumably wrote it, then they should, right? I don't want Vince's hands anywhere near that. He can take the rest of the TNA library.

Haha
WWE did wrestlemania in front of a hundred thousand people.
TNA can't get funds to run bound for glory in front of 300 people who won't pay for their tickets.

That triggered a lot of old memories
Some terrible, some hilarious.
I'm sure mods are probably having horrible flashbacks.

Remember that crazy dedicated fan who wanted to buy TNA a couple of years ago? He even set up a crowd funding page and all, getting something like $5. Well, now's his chance!

What about TNA sets it apart? TNA was supposed to be a southern style promotion and occasionally showed bursts of that, at one point they had the X-Division as its crown jewel for an identity and what jewel it was. Russo was always a wrench in any kind of plan because what he does isn't really conducive to any kind of identity. Then it only got worse when Hogan and Bischoff came in because their ideas stripped away what little sense of individuality TNA had left. Even in the early '10s they could at least claim that sure, they're WWE Lite, but look at these great guys they have who WWE isn't interested in. Then that slowly fizzled out too because they couldn't afford anyone. WWE's hiring practices changed and they began to shift their own product to something more workrate-driven and much more friendly to people who made their names elsewhere, and all TNA has left is their record of hiring WWE castoffs to cut bitter promos. At this point TNA's 'identity' is just 'laughingstock'.

How can you not have money to run a show Sunday but some how sign Cody and Brandi Rhodes? Because it is not like they get a salary or signing bonus. Hell probably don't even have a contract, just rough deal worked out on how much they pay for when tna uses them. I think Cody has even said he would not be signing a deal with anyone.
