The day they let AJ Styles go was the day I quit caring at all what happened to TNA.

I can see their logic though.
AJ Styles was just a TNA guy at the time and wasn't really considered a star before going to WWE.
TNA has relied so much on having WWE guys headline that their homegrown guys look second rate. Look at Bobby Rhoode for example, he was just some generic guy, but is rejuvenated in NXT.
If AJ stayed with TNA, what would he really be doing of note? He would be a big fish in a little pond. He needed to go to WWE to take his career to that next level.

AJ Styles WAS TNA.
He was the face of the company to a majority of the audience, and TNA refused to recognize or treat him as such.

AJ is the person TNA should have built around He has great matches and could have worked great in the face of the company role. Instead TNA tried their best to make him just another guy and they were trying to sell him as an up and comer as late as 2012 when he should have been their John Cena. Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, Sting, RVD and Hogan all spent time being shown as above AJ when they should have been shown at his level.

He didn't, he didn't even bother saying goodbye to Joe, Roode, Daniels and others there he'd known for years after it was over. He just got his stuff after the match and walked out as he was tired of it all. If this image wasn't posted somewhere in this thread, I was ready to do it myself. This pretty much sums it up as far as AJ and TNA are concerned nowadays.

Hahaha loltna maybe the biggest loltna ever. They lowballed him and for what?? MVP didn't even last a year and contributed shit. AJ's replacement Magnus? He became Dixie's bitch and Bram's soulmate, now he pretty much dissapeared from wrestling. Then with its tale tucked between its legs like the good bitch TNA is, they offered AJ a hall of fame spot and a BFG match, he told them to f*** off. AJ after TNA: IWGP Heavyweight champ first night in NJPW. Royal Rumble debut. Skipped nxt. WWE champ within a year. TNA after AJ: Destination America. Pop TV. Living week to week like a crackhead. Magnus is the current GFW Champion, so he might as well have disappeared from wrestling.

Don't now if it's true but in a GFW show that happened this year, allegedly the ring broke down and they had to brawl outside, the match was Kongo Kong vs Chris Masters. There should be a law that a Jarrett can never start a wrestling promotion ever again.

Magnus was actually touring with a local promotion in my area last week, I had a good laugh when I saw him promoted as GFW Champ

I wonder why Magnus hasn't gotten any sort of look from WWE? The guy was pretty decent in TNA. Did the horrible Storm feud just kill him in the eyes of everyone?
As far as AJ goes, the thing that amazes me is how good of a promo he has become in WWE. I don't recall him ever being a particularly great promo in TNA, passable at best. Always thought he would be far too southern to make it in WWE. He's probably the best wrestler in the business right now. But then there were times when, even as a TNA guy, he was #1 in the PWI 500 and what not.

He's why I started watching TNA in the first place. It was during the whole S.E.X thing..but I just went "Damn. There's a star".
It is appropriate that TNA seems to finally be dying as A.J Styles is on top of the world.

I think everyone here forgot how Magnus turned ratings around and that TNA is the number #1 wrestling promotion in Rand McNally, Genosha, Nairomi and Oceania.

TNA: The company that let AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, and TJ Perkins slip through their fingers. Good move, I bet those worthless guys are wrestling at flea markets for a hot dog and an orange juice these days. they also had Okada and they dressed him up like Kato from The Green Hornet and jobbed him out on Xplosion to Rob Terry and Stevie Richards. You can't make this shit up.

Yeah, here you have a guy with the talent, the look, the charisma, the hard work and the nickname of someone to build your company around...TNA rather pushes old WWE/WCW/ECW stars
What Sting was for WCW for some time, what Bret/Shawn/Austin were for a while for WWF (93-01), what Cena was for WWE for about a decade, AJ could have been for TNA...
Dixie, you get what you deserve

It's only fitting for TNA to go down with AJ Styles as WWE Champion.

Not to the same degree, but TNA's misuse and constant dicking around of AJ is this era's equivalent of Vern refusing to make Hogan his top guy.

But hey, all those former WWE guys are helping, right? Just look at Aron Rex! And Tyrus! AJ Styles isn't anything next to them!

Not to the same degree, but TNA's misuse and constant dicking around of AJ is this era's equivalent of Vern refusing to make Hogan his top guy. In Verne's case, he thought Hogan lacked the credibility and technical skills to be the world champion. Dixie held it against AJ that he never was a known name in WWF/E, WCW, or ECW.

AJ more than any other star embodied the promotion; he had been with them from day one, had held all their titles and honors, had worked with every top star they had both home grown and ex WWE/WCW. Yet they never treated him as an established star, never gave him the four star main event status he deserved. And after he gave them more than a decade of his life and had done so much with them they turn around and ask HIM of all people to take a pay cut? It was nothing short of an insult. They showed him how much they valued him-and now he's turned around and showed them how much he is worth.

They had to free up payroll for that earth-shaking Drew McIntryre hire.
