I'm positive somebody listened to the Tron Legacy score, and decided it should be the inspiration for this score and covered as much as they could.

I'm positive somebody listened to the Tron Legacy score, and decided it should be the inspiration for this score and covered as much as they could. Mix in a little Stanger Things. I'm four episodes in, I'm enjoying it so far. There's only so many evil business men you can take though. That's why Jessica Jones was so great it went in a different direction. I'm fine with Danny being a little bland since he was raised as a monk and not understanding a world he hasn't seen since childhood. I think a lot of this shows problem is the same thing that hurt films like Iron Man 2, you can't go to far out there as the crossover film is around the corner, and you have to World build, setting up for the defenders. A little comedy might have helped this show a bit though.

So far, halfway through episode 2, a lot of the criticisms are right. Maybe not the harsher ones are right, but the ones that talk about the show's plodding pace causing outright boredom are spot on.
So far, it's just a chore to slog through.
I want to like it, but it's not makin it easy. Does it pick up at all?

Glad to hear it, because man it's a CHORE so far.
I feel like a lot of those reviews were probably written with the mindset I have currently of "good grief, be interesting".

I finished the last episode today. I liked it. I didn't like it as much as the other Marvel shows on Netflix, but just because I don't have it ranked higher doesn't mean I think it sucks. I still very much enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to The Defenders even more.
I believe it was Kevin, earlier in the thread, who stated that the first episode is a lot like Arrow. Spot on, man. I was thinking the same exact thing.

Some of the writing is honestly kind of bad.
This exchange occurs almost verbatim.
Person A: "Who is your master?" Person B: "I serve no one but myself." Person A: "Get ready to disappoint your master!"
That's kinda terrible. The last line shows they were trying to be punchy with it, but it's so clunky. Using the word "master" twice doesn't help it run any more smoothly.

Yeah, even saying "get ready to disappoint him" would be better.
And yup, I mentioned Arrow. That first episode, if they started callin Danny Olllie instead, I would not have bat an eye.

I'm about 9 episodes in, and I'm definitely liking it. My biggest problem so far, to echo some of the other opinions in the thread, is that there's a lot of "show, don't tell" issues with Danny's backstory. Like, I get that they probably didn't have enough money to do a lot of out-of-country shooting, but just talking about K'un L'un and all of Danny's time there doesn't get me engaged.

Yeah, once they resolve the whole "Is Danny actually Danny" shit they tried, it picks up. And I've got to say in episode 6 {Spoiler}when Danny starts responding to his master and unleashes his power, that was f***ing awesome. Gao's reaction made it even better.

Brad Jones put up his thoughts on it on an episode-by-episode basis. Probable language warning but I don't recall for sure.
Long and short of it is he likes it but thinks the actual Iron Fist stuff itself is the least interesting part in large part because of Jones' performance.

Those first two episodes are a real chore but episode 4 is when it really starts to pick up. Not the best of the Marvel Netflix shows, I'd probably put it on par or slightly below Luke Cage.

That's good to hear. I just watched the first two last night and wasn't liking anything but Finn Jones, who I thought was doing a great job as Danny. The supporting cast thus far really sucks.

{Spoiler}Halfway through the season, and I'm starting to think Thanos would kneel before Madame Gao if she demanded him to.
