I'll watch it when I get home, so I say this without knowing what his criteria are for his choices, but any sequel list begins and ends with Godfather Part II.

Yeah I really can't argue with any of these. Terminator 2 is my favorite movie ever but in terms of universal praise and impact on film industry, Godfather 2 and Empire are interchangeable as 1 and 2.
Also I would argue Creed or Rocky Balboa were better than Rocky 2 but I understand the reasoning of why Rocky 2 is on the list. The fact it was pretty unexpected a Best Picture winner has a sequel and still being good despite continuing a story that should of had everything already told. Like it was more then a remake of the first film with a happy ending which was very unexpected. I do think Adrian in a coma storyline was really hokey and forced and didn't needed to be added in. Creed seeking redemption, Balboas crushknf hopes of his sponsorship to provide for him for life, the pregnancy, getting his passion back, and the fact he might be going blind in one eye was enough melodrama to carry the film forward.

I'd probably shift around the order a bit but I can't argue against any of his inclusions.

Ok, I get what he's saying with his #1 and #2 spots, though I would've likely reversed them. But that's not at all bad criteria.
Regarding Empire Strikes Back and tying into the thread we have here on Return of the Jedi, I think maybe there's a key aspect of why some folks get more down on RotJ the older they get, even while still usually loving all the great parts of it, like the rescue from Jabba and the Emperor's throne room scenes. Doug says it: Empire took what was really a fun, albeit exceptionally well done and revolutionary, space romp and expands EVERYTHING about it, going in a radically new direction that shook everybody's ideas of what a big budget sequel could be, while Jedi...well, again, it's great in a number of ways, but there's a lot in it that seems to bring things back to the status quo rather than continuing that expansive mindset (I'm speaking mostly in terms of expanding themes, not just expanding the perceived size of the Star Wars universe). Luke gets to complete his character arc, but it feels like still more could've been done; Han and Leia play big roles, but don't feel like they do a lot of developing; the comic relief isn't all bad or anything, but there's just that nagging sense that Empire Strikes Back implied this wondrous-yet-dark universe that could've stood to be explored even further, and RotJ only does some of that rather than going all out.
For the record, like I said in the other thread, I'm not at all bashing Return, just pointing out why I think many people tend to gravitate toward Empire over time.

I'm going to have to dispute the idea really that Terminator 2 and Aliens can really be considered among the best sequels when... Functionally they're kind of not? Nothing against the movies themselves but they're not really the logical tonal or structural follow-ups to the originals and could probably stand just as well as some unrelated thing. Could kind of say the same thing about Wrath of Khan, tying it to TOS it works fine but it's hard to call it a great sequel to The Motion Picture when Wrath of Khan makes more sense if you assume that movie's not canon.
Also I didn't like Toy Story 2 anywhere near as much as 3, but different strokes on that one I guess.

Needs more Winter Soldier. Good list otherwise.
