I love Daniels, but I get the feeling that'd have gone over pretty terribly.

I prefer my belief that it was supposed to be Green DX Kane

I like the thought of Daniels being backstage in the robe and Vince seeing him and saying "Him?! f*** it I'll do it myself!" and ripping it off him and storming out to the ring.

It's Christopher Daniels, he was at least 135 years old at this point.

Daniels has his moments but the 1999 WWF crowd would have shit on that.

I like Daniels but I couldn't see that working at the time, it would have ended horribly.

Sounds like it was made by names being thrown into one of those automatic newz generators. I got:

Did he even have the Fallen Angel gimmick back in '99?

The only thing worse than it being the beyond-obvious choice of Vince, is selecting a guy that no one had ever heard of at the time. That would've been a disaster.

-after reading this, I'm actually happy it was Vince. I never got the love for Daniels. Let alone, who the hell even knew who he was?

They cut to the back and see Taker in a dark room talking to a guy sitting there facing the other way Dr. Claw style. All you really see is an arm holding what appears to be an Appletini.

It it had been Bad Influence era Christopher Daniels, with him taking down the hood, screaming "It's me Austin!" followed by Appletini sip, the WWF boom period probably would been extended another couple of years.

he more I think of it, the more I've come to the conclusion that nobody would've been a good pick for the Higher Power. Dibiase couldn't wrestle anymore. Trusting Jake with that could've had disastrous consequences. No one (well, at least I didn't) knew who Daniels was in 99. It shouldn't have been Vince. They were in a true no win situation

Wiki has him listed as born in '70, so he was almost pushing 30 at the time. Dude is deceptively old.

Even in like 2005 or whatever, Punk and Samoa Joe would call him Grandpa Daniels in their shoot, along with calling his daughter Cactus because of Punk not knowing how to hold a baby right, so Daniels chastised him not to hold her like she was a cactus.

Damn he's only 5 years younger than Taker. I'm both shocked Daniels is that old and Taker is that young.

I like Daniels, but this would've been a disaster. With the build-up for it fans were expecting somebody with name value to them. Daniels was a nobody at the time, and size or not, he doesn't exactly have a look that's gonna wow people out of the gate.
