So race jackson is the new buck hawk ? I'm almost sure I heard Shayne's name come up during the stream, about him watching at home, I was only half paying attention. That might have been addressed during the match.

My head hurts. Also, I need clarification as to what happened during Barksdale/Crab, as I've seen two different results for it. Crawdad hits Barksdale with his handcuffs like they were brass knuckles, and Crab gets DQ'd, then they rough up barksdale a bit and cuff him. The crowd chants "He Needs Backup". So race jackson is the new buck hawk ? I'm almost sure I heard Shayne's name come up during the stream, about him watching at home, I was only half paying attention. That might have been addressed during the match. They mentioned that Steven Mainz was trained by him at the IWS dojo.

The good thing about the secret season is that they can do results that can advance storylines like double DQ's, execsivo de castiago and such without going into a new town, doing a show and upsetting fans with non-finishes.
The bad thing is that they didn't hype the in-ring return of UMB and as of now, we don't know 100% whether he's the Grand Champion or not.

I'm doing this just to try and keep track of everything for myself so I'm gonna spoiler it just in case: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Tabula Rasa
Mr. Touchdown confronts Dasher and offers to give him the 3 points he earned to make up for the Golden Opportunity he lost for Dasher. Says he has no memory of anything since he was hexed. Dasher refuses to accept them. Dasher apologizes for turning his back on Touchdown when he refused his hug and when he didn't believe he was hexed. Touchdown apologizes, Dasher says "Family" and they shake hands.
The Closers have 2 points
Calhoun and Leary get Double DQd for both shoving referee Travis. Leary pulls out a knife and cuts off a piece of Calhoun's hair.
Hallowicked no longer hears Nazmaldun. He's lost everyone except Frightmare.
Sea Stars have 1 point
Hallowicked attempts to help Frightmare beat Ultramantis but Icarus pulls Hallowicked off the apron. UMB has 1 point
Juan y Wani has 1 point
We sure Icarus after the credit. He still has 2 points and will obviously be the next to challenge Hallowicked
What we can assume: UMB gets 2 more points and defeats Hallowicked for the Grand Championship before the end of Season 17
Orientation
Princess Kimberlee visits a barber and asks for highlights. The barber is never shown but they do a shot of a skull with a crown ontop of the barber pole. Could this be the Whisper? Kim says she has a lot to talk about.
Same kids in the audience so this was probably taped the same day but I could be wrong
Missile Assault Man with the Sharpshooter. Has he used this before? MAM has 1 point
Princess Kimberlee seems to have taken Solo Darling under her wing and gives her advice on how to deal with the Boar
Boar's first appearance in months. His status was up in the air as of the end of Season 16.
Referee Travis DQ's the Boar. He gets Gored. Solo and Kimberlee save him. Solo now has 2 points.
Quack mentions Heidi asked for a match with Dasher before she leaves for WWE. Dasher wins and has 1 point.
Dez Peloton look like Justin Gabriel and Jakob Hammermeier started a team. They pick up 1 point.
N_R_G still having problems.
The Batiri look for revenge, yet they haven't changed back to their normal colors. Kobald having a crisis and doesn't save Kodama from Hallowicked's punishment after the bell. Hallowicked and Frightmare have 1 point
Referee Travis turns in his referee shirt following the credits.
What we can assume: This leads to whatever relationship Travis and Solo have at the beginning of Season 18. Kobald winds up siding with Wicked.
Left Behind
N_R_G still arguing. Race doesn't want to get hit in the face anymore.
Ophidian still talking nonsense and talking to Amasis
Seem to be different people in certain spots this time around.
Hermit Crab and Cajun Crawdad start a feud with Officer Warren Barksdale
Kobald having some sort of crisis, wearing green and red accessories but then his complete red outfit to wrestle in.
Sonny DeFarge visits the same mystery barber
The Whisper pokes his head through the curtain during the trios match and distracts Kim enough for her to lose the match
Crummels & DeFarge pick up their 3rd point. Race Jaxon kills off Hype Rockwell.
Ophidian burns Amasis' mask and I guess will go on a soul searching mission now.
What we can assume: This show leads to Barksdale recruiting Meloni. Whisper will probably continue being a thorn in the side of the Princess and probably lead to her exit. Crummels & DeFarge vs. Moustache Mountain should be coming up soon. [/spoilers]

I also love that thename of the first show of the secret season is Tabula Rasa.
I also just saw the post that all of the episodes are named after Lost episodes, also a good pull.

The bad thing is that they didn't hype the in-ring return of UMB and as of now, we don't know 100% whether he's the Grand Champion or not. I really hope he isn't. Just because I think loyal CHIKARA fans have wanted to see him win the grand championship live and in person for many years. UltraMantis Black is the most popular wrestler in CHIKARA history. There's no question about that. To deny their fans and his fans that experience by giving it to an in house group of CHIKARA family and friends for a secret show instead cheats them out of it. People were expecting him to win the championship from Hallowicked before his injury. They expected that to be the payoff instead of Kimberlee winning it. Now that long awaited moment could be gone. The secret season is pretty cool. Robbing the dedicated fans of that live experience isn't.

I've decided to not jump on the Season 17 bandwagon until the entire thing has been posted to Chikaratopia for infinite binging. I do what to throw out some personal thoughts on NPWD/YLC XII from the perspective of being there live, not having commentary and watching without knowing or realizing fully we were in Season 18 till the end even though Vlad said it at the start (it went over the majority of us):
Sitting next to Vlad's dad was pretty fun. Despite what Vlad said he is a very nice guy. Even though they'd already filmed an entire season the workers were all really excited to see everyone including folks they'd probably not seen in a long time. NPWD brings some us out because of the promise of the kind of show being delivered. It was all that and more even without an intermission.
Murloc can quickly become our new monster. I'd love to see him take on Max Smashmaster at some point even though CHIKARA has never really been a HOSS WAR place. Maybe this match can happen elsewhere. Murloc isn't exactly HUGE, so Max would tower over him (I stood next to him after the show, he's about 5 inches taller than me, but just as broad [but I'd be considered a short HOSS even thinner than I am now... sorta like how The Batiri are kinda hosses cause dem shoulders]), but I still think that'd be quite a bout. Maybe Limitless could book it. Murloc probably work the match under his regular character though. The guy is an impressive force.
Space Monkey was excellent as always. I've seen him multiple times on multiple shows, a truly quick rising talent who got over with a gimmick as his without even being a CHIKARA guy despite feeling like he'd fit right in and well, he does..
That Razer/Cajun/Connors/Crummels match was really hot. Razerhawk was so over. Connors despite Bieber was so entertaining. Crummels game has really leaped. Backstreet Boys and N'Sync forever.
The short time we got of Fly Warrior and "Flip" Gordon was pretty amazing. I'd love to see these two go for 20 minutes. Not sure how easy it is for Warrior to get over here though. He also doesn't understand English very well either at all. He can speak minor words and pro wrestling can be a universal language in the ring, but just my own side note. Wanted to just congratlate him on a job well done and had to use a computer translator cause my Spanish from JHS is pretty much gone (I'm 3rd Generation Russian American folks, not a Mexican).
I'd been waiting for heel Race Jaxon for quite awhile! He's impressed me in everything I've seen outside CHIKARA under Logan. The crowd saying he was ugly made me angry. The tights thing was horrible and embarrassing and if it turns out to have been a thing in Season 17 as well, really silly then... but he is NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT ugly. If you honestly think he is. Rip your eyes out of your socket, you don't deserve to have vision. Rip off your ears and cut your nose too though cause you don't deserve to get the enhanced skills you'd gain from ripping out your eyes.
I'm looking forward to seeing how good a job the home audience got to experience Colony vs. Legion of Rot. It was all over the place. A serious barn burner. Worker Ant's new gear was curious but it mattered not, I think he'd dead. Interesting that Frightmare is sticking with the Ultimo Guerrero mask he had at the Finale. I wonder if we'll ever get an explanation behind it or not... I'm betting it'll be a mystery never explained fully (I wrote my own script that Frightmare would expose the rules that Mask vs Mask doesn't say anything about putting on a NEW mask so he had one made and then decided he loved it so much... he just switched even though he won). What I found interesting (especially in light of what we so far know about Season 17) is that Kobald kept smashing his own head. I yelled at him at one point "Who's in there Kobald? Who's talking to you?". He looked at me with a "I don't know, but please help look" as best as one can do in a mask that hides your entire face. It's weird since it seems something from Season 17 is unresolved going into 18.
The two semi finals of YLC were quick but very strong in establishing the characters even more then they already were. Bryce eating the banana was awesome! Crummels trying to make Monkey submit via tail hole. The tail being so strong it's a weapon. Whisper's YO-YO tricks are confusing but I love them. These statements about Whisper's Owl Tattoo being as ugly as Icarus' back are inane, and people who think so need to do the same thing that people who think Race is ugly do. That Owl in a tree tattoo is absolutely some seriously quality work, the line weight, the color, the detail. Icarus' back is an atrocious mess cause the human figure is obscenely poorly drawn and the color choices on the wave are ridiculous. The buildings and border on it are excellent though, but the sacrificed human just ruins the whole thing. There's nothing like that in Whisper's tattoo. It's quality. Travis is as inept as a wrestler it seems as he is as a referee. Worried more about Larry Peace then the match. He won his first round pretty much by luck as well. He does have Solo Darling though so he's doing something right.
Chuck Taylor Tm was the bomb diggity, the song, the promo, the love, a heart warming time. Loved it. The 50% candy thing I know for a fact was based off a tweet by my friend Mahawish who is in constant fake twitter flirting/rejecting/war with the Chuck Taylor account, because that just how he do.
Dasher vs. JFDC was interesting. It seemed like such a basic old school CHIKARA match. No beat, no new Dasher. A few never seen from Juan moves. There were people who left during Juan's entrance... and never came back.
The entire match before the bell rang between The Force and The Closers was absolutely amazing. Sloan talking to Deal through the cameras at home. Not wanting to be arrested. People constantly chanting for the dog. BTW, if a DOG who is just that... a dog... is more over then you... you need to do something about that. I mean he's a cute dog... but he's a DOG! Matilda was never more over then The Bulldogs. Chloe was never more over then Torrie Wilson.
The Mantis speech was just all kinds of weird. He did it good though and confused the entire LIVE audience and it seems a lot of the home audience. (I don't know when the "there's a season 17" was revealed to the home audience...since we didn't find out till the end)
That final Whisper/Space Monkey match coulda been a bit better, but at the point I think a lot of us was tired. I know I was. Yes it was still fairly early but not by a lot. There was a mini bit of a post intermission and wrestlers hung out and talked before we got kicked out, so it was all and all a good show. Now we'll see how the rest of the season goes and how not having all of season 17 in our brains affects how we react to season 18 as it goes along.

Wait, is UltraMantis Black back? I stopped paying attention to Chikara ( A company that genuinely might of been my favorite wrestling company from 2008 - 2012) because of that year long tournament thing as well as UMB's retirement. Was the retirement a work?

I stopped paying attention to Chikara ( A company that genuinely might of been my favorite wrestling company from 2008 - 2012) because of that year long tournament thing as well as UMB's retirement. Was the retirement a work? Yes and no. His injury was 100% real. The timeframe for his return was just too far away to leave fans hanging so saying he was retiring was a great way to set up a big pop for his return. He did appear in a wheelchair, kind of in a managerial role and even being possessed by Nazmaldun. That was a clever way to keep him around until he healed up. It's strange to me that they gave his return away on a secret show. Fans definitely would've sold out a venue to see him back in the ring. He is that popular. Look how long you've been gone and you're here asking about him. Haha.

Today, with my headache at trying to understand all this finally having abated, I realized something. Something that was utterly delightful. There's no more "Why do you hate NRG?!" flak, no more butthurt in response to anything anti-NRG, no more people giving me silly-sounding reasons why I should like them. I can finally boo Race Jaxon in peace.
