Dumb theory that I don't actually believe: Mortimer is Private Eye Jr without his head. I would've said Dragon Dragon but that's clearly not a Dragon's body

so maybe we're not getting a Cibernetico this year? There's 6 matches signed already and they're doing a live stream on Chikaratopia for this event

That whole challenge of the immortals tournament felt like filler. None of the matches were memorable besides the final and the main reason for that was the result. There weren’t many storylines that year either. The Condron stuff was fun but not much else was going on.

2015 wasn't amazing, but I wouldn't classify it as bad. You did have the COTI, which while not great did create clear storyline paths, plus you had the beginnings of Nazmaldun, Snowflake, Soldier Ant, and one of the better overall post-shutdown shows in Top Banana.

What if there is one last secret Season 17 show and that's where the Cibernetico takes place?

In terms of in house product though CHIKARA had one of its BEST years in 2012, and King of Trios 2012 was one of its best, as someone who saw Nights 2 and 3 live, maybe thats a little bias but yeah

And that's any different from Quack five years later slaying Smashmaster? That feels way worse to me, at least in 2012 we had a point with Quack kind of snapping and laying the seeds for the whole Flood Thing.

trying not to be negative but this has to be the worst finale ever. i have almost no interest in this show. i want to but what am i supposed to be excited about as a fan?my only hope is something....... anything interesting happens here because this looks like a serious dud. icing on the cake of chikara's worst season in my opinion.

Yep, a total nothing season with a bunch of people leaving forever and a bunch of new underdeveloped talent it's nearly impossibly to care about. The direction CHIKARA is going as someone who used to love them is sad.

You know what's surprising to me? The holding patterns this Oleg & Kobald storyline has been in. Like...you'd think by now after months of this we'd be having some progression to lead into eventual match at the finale? Yet instead we have them in a tag team match. Again.

Yeah, I was thinking about going up to this. It's just really hard to justify. It's so lackluster that I almost want to think that it's intentionally done because there are going to be some titanic storyline moments and it'll be a real shock. But at this point, it's hard to view that as anything but wishful thinking.

If there is some monumental storyline twist to this finale, like even if there is, the build and reasoning is terribly done.
"Yeah let's lull people into such a false sense of security that they stop giving a shit about us and may never come back!"
The Indies is all about keeping interest and star power and CHIKARA's homegrown aspect combined with the intricate storylines were such a hook on top of the great wrestling, and now with the storylines so absolutely weak and seemingly going nowhere and so much top talent seemingly bouncing forever and this new crop of wrestlers just not matching up and being thrust out there too early and with not a lot of trustworthy vets, it's been a season of falling apart where the most interesting shit like Mantis winning the Title happened on some secret secluded show that NO ONE ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE, Yeah people were there but it was like close friends and shit, not fans, not people who would have wanted to see this story develop and see Mantis win the big one if they've been a fan of his for over a decade, no, a secret timeskip season.
That was the biggest middle finger to me of this whole year but the Season that has followed has been a giant flop in every aspect since and I can't say they haven't earned it. People were saying when it happened that the Secret Season wasn't that big of a deal, but no, it was. They expect you to sign up to a Network to see a season long storyline take place and then expect you to care about all these new wrestlers, it's all fallen flat about as much as I thought it might when the season started, and sadly, it might actually be worse than what I predicted since even more wrestlers have left since the start of the year.
Need I forget to mention that "Oh Mantis will have a long fruitful reign to make up for giving the win away on the secret season!", and no, he didn't, in fact his reign was incredibly forgettable, and so was the whole payoff of "Nazmaldun", like they couldn't have handled all of this more poorly, and it's only continued throughout this whole year, in several different storylines, if you can even call some of them storylines with how start and stop some have been and don't go anywhere at all.
Everything's just a mess with CHIKARA right now... Quack was barely able to sustain this company at it's PEAK, if this trend continues, CHIKARA's not gonna last much longer.

I understood the purpose of the secret season. They had major people who weren't going to be available once the season started, so they wanted to give them send offs that people could see. Perfectly logical. And then they decided to experiment further with the UMB thing. A little less understandable, but could have been cool. But as you said, for a title win of that magnitude, he did basically nothing with his reign, and the way it went down just felt like a transition reign because they wanted to get it onto Juan without having Juan beat Hallowicked. Hell, he had the belt that people knew about for what, 2 months? I never blame them for experimenting, as that's the best part of Chikara, but that was a flop.
The biggest problem to me is that it seemed like there were storylines that were building towards the season finale. And as long as you stick with the season system, there should be big storyline moments in the finale, even if it doesn't wrap it up. The biggest storyline dynamics this year were basically all around Whisper. His feud with Ophidian. His stuff with Missile Assault Man, and what branched out from MAM and Proteus Wheel. So that also brings in Leary and Calhoun. And yet none of that is on the card. So why should we care about the product if what you build to has no representation on the biggest show of the year? I don't think I'll ever be fully out on Chikara, because I've always liked what Quack represents and what Chikara represents. But it's getting harder to care.
