Hit me with your best shot.
How would describe yourself as a board gamer? All about Meeples, rolling dice, Euro, storybased, co-op, deck-builders, luck, creative, social?
What's out there that you love?
Tell us what you're into and why.
For me, I love Puerto Rico, Stone Age, Citadels. Marvel Legendary is an awesome deck-builder and fun co-op socially.
Socially speaking, there's none better than Game of Things.
I've recently learned how to play Game of Thrones: Board Game. It's amazing with 6 players! That's kinda my addiction right now. It's so dynamic. I'm hooked!
I've played Star Wars Rebellion once and dying to play again.
I've still never played a game of Twilight Imperium or Eclipse.

I see that "speak out" game everywhere and pictures/videos of it plastered all over Facebook of people with their mouths wedged open and I roll my eyes. But then as a kid who grew up being addicted to board games, I'm actually glad to see one capturing people's imagination. Cards against Humanity is another that is re-invigorating the board game (even if it is for adults) scene.

Codenames is fun, it's sort of like Taboo and Guess Who's baby. Simple, but works.

Ooh a board game thread *cracks knuckles*
I guess I'd be a casual, looking for flavor yet competitve board gamer.
Enjoy playing things like: Archipelago (just a lot of fun) Magic the Gathering mostly Cube with a little bit of EDH (Been dabbling since 4th edition) Necromunda the best thing Games Workshop ever made Heroquest the door way fro why I love board games. BloodRage completely nuts but lots of fun and death Pandemic great co-op and simple gameplay Spyfall lots of laughs playing this simple guess who card game Eldritch Horror love the flavour even if rules are a bit tricksy Drakon played recently very fun tile laying escape a dungeon game.
Less keen on Star Wars: Imperial Assault or Risk.
*Twilight Imperium is awesome, however much like a lord of the rings movie marathon it takes a very long time to play.

I don't have hard numbers to back it up, but it seems like board games have seen a resurgence. They also have benefited greatly from the rise of Kickstarter, since a number of been funded that may not have ever had a chance getting published by one of the big companies.

Cards Against Humanity is always great for some laughs Gloom is another great card game where the goal is to give your family the worst day possible then kill them off Love playing Settlers of Catan. Was able to find Key to the Kingdom on eBay a few years back in great condition. Board James did a video on it. Very fun

I started playing Joking Hazard from Cyanide and Happiness it's basically like Cards against Humanity only you make a cyanide and happiness comic out of it.
I also just got the expansion to the fantastic game Betrayal at the house on the hill. Which is basically a horror movie game
I've also played Shadows over Camelot which is really awesome, and the Temple of Elemental Evil D&D board game.

I pretty much just played Catan. My roommates and I made our own board out of pizza boxes and pistachio nuts because we were so cheap in college, before someone finally bought it.
I get really pissed off if I start losing though, especially if it is something strategic or something like Scrabble, so I pretty much avoid playing board games if I can.

Magic: The Gathering and Cards Against Humanity count as board games? I thought they just count as card games (or a collectable card game for MTG).
Last board played was Settlers of Catan on New Years Eve.

A lot of the board game playing I do nowadays is done through Tabletop Simulator. From it, I've played Codenames, Machi Koro, Spy Alley, Unfair, and a whole bunch of others.
Also I have Ticket to Ride on Steam. Good stuff.

I play the Lost boardgame and Betrayal at House on Haunted Hill with my students.
Explore. Flip tiles. Acquire items. Read/use event cards. Make everyone's HP/power zero, and win.

That Game Of Thrones game is great, but I've only gotten to play my copy about 5 times. It's a bit too dense for some of my friends, and my friends who would like it didn't take losing too well. One of my buddies actually bought his own copy to "train in secret" for our next match of it and then proceeded to lose again.

Awesome list. Have you played Roll For the Galaxy? I only played it one time, but I preferred it to Race. I'm usually not a chance type of fan in board games, but Roll isn't all chance or anything. Just makes you think on your feet more. I just didn't get into the meta-game aspect that seems to be there in Race (that is, knowing what every card in the game is before playing seems to be conducive to being too good at the game). If I played it more, I might change my tune about that. I just remember there being one play dynamic in Roll that made it seem more fun than Race. And seeing your rant list, I would put Magic: the Gathering on mine. I have no issue with anyone who enjoys it. None at all, because those who enjoy it do so in a way that I once did. I just enjoyed the game more when I didn't know every little scrap and tittle about metagaming and effective strategy during each set when first starting. The competitive scene at a high level is quite a turnoff, and that's what has made me more sour against it than any other game. I had a breakthrough finish at an event where I was an unknown, and I got some attention for it. At that point, you're "in," and all of a sudden there is an expectation level placed on you, and the different factions in the competitive community start including you to a point where it's just not fun any more. Playtesting among the elites became a job-like effect (not that it became a job, but the distancing from the enjoyment of it to the "I know everything that's going to happen or who is going to need what to happen at every corner of the game" is what I mean). The game just becomes robotic once you learn all the nuances of each set in competitions. I wish I could just play, but it's a bit of PTSD each time I get invited to sit around with actual friends and play. I have no desire, and it's because I've been corrupted on how to view the game and how to view "just-for-fun" enthusiasts. It's like I've gone to the dark side and I don't know how to recover.

I haven't tried Roll yet, but I find it quite appealing. It's on my list of things to pick up at some point. I know the feeling with magic. I started with Ice Age and I quit with Torment cause my local scene was a cesspool. I picked it back up with Scars of Mirrodin casually, playing with new people super casually. It ended up a lot better playing games with 4 or more people and nothing on the line for me. That and instead of buying packs, I'd just build decks with random dumb ideas buying singles. Ended up making it much cheaper too.
