I have my own personal use board game based on A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Players use dream powers to fight against Freddy while battling thru town to find his bones in one of 32 locations and return them to the Junkyard for proper burial. I love roleplaying games, but don't really know where to start in finding new ones. Target and Walmart are hardly spots and Toys R Us left me uninspired recently. For instance, none of the Euro games listed in this thread can be found at any of these three stores. Barnes and Noble has a pretty good selection of board games if you don't have a local gaming store of some sort. If you're looking for a good place to discover stuff, check out boardgamegeek, it's a great resource for researching games. Thank you for the tip! Yeah, Boardgamegeek found me custom cards for Pokemon Master Trainer 2001 (Red Edition) and showed me the Victory Games 80's Nightmare on Elm Street game before I bought on eBay. I live close to Barnes and Noble. I'll check this out.

Has anyone ever played Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirls? I saw it at a comics store many years ago and was curious about it because I'm weird. I don't think they make it anymore though.

I picked up Mr. Jack today to play with the wife.
Was a bit confusing at first but after a couple of tries it's a fun little game. She's better than me at it, she's quite crafty at using the characters abilities and such.

Recently played Terra Mystica which took a little while to grasp rules wise but was a lot of fun once it got going.
Going to be blitzing a bunch of smaller games this weekend, so SKull, boss Monster, Tsuro, blood bowl team manager, masmorra, camel up, santorini, istanbul & wiz-war are on the line up.

Tried Scythe recently. It's awesome. If you are unfamiliar, here is a picture that says a lot with a very little ... Viticulture is great. Finally got around to playing that. It's like Stone Age, but with wine. And there are more play mechanics to it than Stone Age. Finally, I also recently played Champions of Miidgard and Cry Havoc. Midgard is worker placement meets combat die rolls with plenty of strategy to try out. Lots of repeatability in that game. Cry Havoc is a battle for mining among humans, aliens, robots, and native big rock-body creatures using deck-building and miniature strategy combat. Also a lot of fun.

I have no idea what 95% of these games are. But my kids are teens now and there are a couple of games they take to high school to play at lunchtime.
Apples to Apples. You draw 5 cards which are pretty random words or names. One player is the Judge, they draw from a separate stack and reveals a description like "funny", "smooth", "irritating". The others put down a card of their hand face-down. Judge goes through the choices and decides which one is the funniest. It's rather amusing to see "irritating" followed by such choices as "Joan Of Arc", "my love life", "the Internet" and "Albert Einstein".
The Game Of Things. Draw a card that has a question like "Things...people do when nobody is looking!" Players fill out strips of paper with their answer. One of them is designated to collect them, then read off all the answers. Designated guesser must decide who said what. If they miss, player to left gets a crack at it. Keep going until all answers are guessed correctly. (Even funnier when you have a room full of adults.)
One I'm getting soon is: Oregon Trail, The Card Game.

Following up on previous post we got through three different games this weekend. Skull Munchkin Mansions of Madness Skull is a very fun bluffing game with cards, easy to pick up and a good game if waiting for someone to arrive or filler between a big game. Munchkin a dungeon leveling game with a big dose of humour. Was fun and amusing. Mansions of Madness is a co-operative exploration horror game that uses an app as you explore an area and investigate a mystery. This was an amazing game and well worth playing. Amusingly while the gravedigger and millionaire owner battled the lovecraftian deep ones and the secretary and street urchin explored for clues my Priest walked into a wall reading a book, had all his teeth fall out, drank a bottle of whiskey and inadvertently stumbled upon the main villain who half beat me to death before the secreatry and street urchin came to my assist. My priest did eventually break the spell and we all just about escaped. Lots of fun

It's rather amusing to see "irritating" followed by such choices as "Joan Of Arc", "my love life", "the Internet" and "Albert Einstein". If you think Apples to Apples is funny I would definitely recommend Cards Against Humanity. It is an adult version of Apples to Apples. The person who is judging draws a card with a question or a fill in the blank. Everyone else puts the card down they think can answer the question funniest. The person who is judging that round then picks from the funniest. For instance the question might be "Instead of coal Santa is leaving bad kids _____ for Christmas" and they might have to choose from "A bucket of fish heads", "Dead Parents", "An Ice Pick Labotomy", or "A can of whoop-ass". I will warn that it can be offensive at times and nothing is off-limits. What is really interesting is that the base game itself is available for free on their website. You can download the PDF of the base game cards.

OMEGA VIRUS From wikipedia "Omega Virus is a talking electronic board game released by Milton Bradley in 1992. It involves" collecting weapons and room keys to destroy the computer virus which has taken over a space station while either hurting or helping your fellow players." As you play the computer will shut down rooms and otherwise mess with the game. I haven't played it in a long time but I remember it being a lot of fun Another favorite of mine growing up was Tornado Rex Both of these have Board James episodes!

I loved the Omega Virus when I was a kid. I lost my copy ages ago though... I remember if you held down the start button and one of the buttons you'd hear the debug mode and every sound in the game would play
