So does this mean any plans for more animated Clerks (either in movie form or new episodes) is dead? I still want to see that ep they talked about on commentary where Randall buys KITT, who proceeds to kidnap Dante and take over his job at Quik Stop. I believe there was a problem with the movie rights for Clerks. Something about ABC owns the rights to the animated version but someone else owns the movie rights to clerks.

I'll definitely see this. Smith's stuff has largely inspired my own sense of humour, and you bet your ass if he gets Affleck involved, we'll get some thinly veiled references to the DCEU that I will likely enjoy.

I love the idea of this movie. Basically rebooting "J&SB Strike Back" to take the piss out of Hollywood's remake obsession. Hollywood decides to reboot "Bluntman and Chronic" and the duo must travel back to try and stop it again. Hijinx ensue.

I mean, I guess it could be funny and it's far enough removed from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back that it could work, but I just worry that it's gonna be too much of a retread.
I'd rather have Clerks 3 to be honest.

I will see this.
Unless he puts his kid in the movie.
Stop trying to make her a thing, Kevin. She's never going to be a thing.

Something about ABC owns the rights to the animated version but someone else owns the movie rights to clerks. ABC own the rights to the cartoon, and aren't willing to let Kev revive it, The Weinstein Company owns the rights to all the movies from Clerks to Zack & Miri Make a Porno, and are generally okay with Kev making sequels to those movies... they just don't want to fund or distribute them.

His recent work may not be great to his long time fans, but I look forward to this.

im guessing the lead in Clerks 3 that bowed out was Jeff Anderson since he usually seems to be the one that basically is "nahhhhh...i really dont like acting" Smith said on a podcast that they basically all got screwed on money for Clerks 2 and Anderson refused to do another one till the Weinsteins opened the books.

Anderson was actually the first person to sign on for the movie, as Kev knew that if he couldn't convince him to do it there was no point in asking anybody else, so he at least changed his mind about never doing another one.

Good. I'm glad. His style of comedy is already kind of out dated. And Clerks II/Jay and Silent Bob only came out a few years ago. Uh, Jay and Silent Bob Strike back came out in 2001 and Clerks 2 was 2006. I would have seen Clerks 3, but I can't say that I'm terribly upset that it isn't happening. I thought Clerks II was a great ending to their story

The only potential good news Kev could've come out with recently is the words "I retire" 18 years ago

I'm glad Clerks 3 isn't happening. Clerks 2 had a perfect ending.

He's always been a mid 90s phenomenon to me. Clerks and Mallrats were great at the time, but to me they were for their time. Trying to recreate it several years later is just a bit sad.

I still love the Jay and Silent Bob Movie. The Affleck internet explanation scene has taken on a far more dramatic poigency these days in light of IMDB's forums shutting down and the Batman v Superman debacle

Jay and Silent Bob are now 42 and 46, respectively. That's just sad to picture them engaging in hijinks. It's like the DX reunion except with more pot jokes.

I kinda want to see her and Lillian Rose Depp as the leads of the female reboot of Bluntman & Chronic. Just so they can have a joke of a poster on Movie Poop Shoot dot com complaining "Blunt woman & Chronic? Way to ruin my childhood!"
