I probably marked harder for this than I did for Bray winning. I'm a huge fan and loved the crowd chanting that she did indeed deserve it.

Not undeserving, but I don't quite get the point of taking the belt off a hated heel shortly before Wrestlemania. So now Naomi will either retain it at Mania (which isn't quite as cool as finally beating the heel after chasing the title for a while), or lose at/before Mania.

There are a few better workers in the divison, she'd probably say that herself, but her athleticism has served her well and hopefully this title win will push her to improve further. Moreover, she always comes across as a very genuine and open person and she's got that connection to a crowd because of it. I find it easy to root for her.
Always appreciate someone that works hard. Definitely glad for her.

Mulling it over a bit, I can see one of two things happening with this reign and they're wildly different.
1. She has a long reign as a fighting champion, since the only other faces on SmackDown are Becky and Nikki and Nikki's leaving soon, while there's Alexa, Carmella, Mickie, Eva Marie, and Natalya for heels and possibly Tamina if the rumors of her coming to SmackDown soon pan out.
2. She has a very short reign and the only purpose is to transition the title to Mickie James since she's a lot better in the ring and more experienced than Alexa is.
I know that pretty much narrows it down to, y'know, basically nothing, but those are about the only ways I can see this going, can't exactly see her having a three month reign where she loses it to Carmella at Extreme Rules or something. Considering either one makes the transition to her a lot more understandable though... although even then I probably would've just given it back to Becky to do either of those, or at the very least I'd have had it be a competitive feud instead of Naomi standing tall in literally every encounter in it thus far.

Seriously, she's been my favorite since NXT Season 3. She far outclassed everyone on that show and should have won. Instead she had to wait a couple of years to come back as a dancer for Brodus Clay before she got a chance to get back in the ring. I was afraid when the 4 Horsewomen were called up that she would get lost in the shuffle so I'm so glad she's finally gotten her moment. I had pretty much figured that when they didn't put the belt on her during Nikki's endless reign that she'd be one of those perennial contenders who never gets the belt, especially after the four horsewomen like you said. It is nice to see.

Ya know we had the golf cart at the Rumble? Now we need a sled on a rail so she can ass-slide all the way to the ring at Mania.

Damn some of you have a heart of stone.
She got a freakin 'you deserve it' chant, which says enough.
I would have preferred her to get the title win AT mania, but this was a great feel good moment.

She absolutely deserved it for all of her hard work since NXT. Going from that to a Funkadactyle to all those feuds to just man, she's really kept it going on and kept improving so to see her win was well justified. She's going to have a HELL of a WM entrance. I thought it was long over due. Regardless of whether she is the best technically in the ring, she has been there long enough that it was almost cringe worthy to me that they had not given her a run yet. She has busted her ass for a long time and hung with it when I'm sure she was frustrated at being ignored and looked over time and time again. I legit got a bit emotional when the crowd chanted for her and it got to her...was really happy they did that. I wondered if she expected that.

I was really happy for her. I've never been the biggest fan of hers but she has definitely worked hard to improve from where she started at. It was a really nice moment.

Yeah that's really my only sticking point, cause sadly she'll prob drop the title in her hometown rather than win it

It's surprising from a time standpoint, but not as much when you look at the title picture the time she's been around. By the time she was really doing anything outside of Brodus's orbit, the division was wrapped up in being about whichever top woman the company wanted to go in really hard on. AJ, Nikki, and then Charlotte had almost-a-year reigns and the only period it was changing before the 250 day mark was when it kept hotshotting between Paige and AJ. Which is why I was so hopeful about the dual women's divisions to begin with; it gave Becky the chance to shine she wasn't going to get in the Raw women's picture, let Alexa have her top women's heel run, and now on Naomi who's been building up support for a long time and put in a lot of work gets her reign, and it doesn't feel like a thank you run in the twilight of her career. Having a title and women's division on each show isn't a perfect solution, but at least it solves the bottleneck of one title for al the company's women that was keeping people who were giving it their ass from ever being able to get their moment in the spotlight because they weren't one of the two ordained top stars of the women's division.

To turn up in their home city as THE champion, rather than leave it as champion.

Some people here probably know I'm a big Naomi fan, so I'm not ashamed to say I got a bit misty eyed when she cried after the crowd chanted "You deserve it" She has worked so hard. So damn hard. I don't follow the indies so I've never really had the experience of seeing someone before they were a star "make it". This is the closest experience I've had to that. I remember seeing house show footage of her when she had been in FCW for a couple months (during the warehouse days) and thinking, "damn, this girl's got something". I followed her all throughout FCW, watching her continue to grow and progress, and eventually become their first divas champ. I rooted for her on NXT. I was baffled by her return to developmental, that seemed to be for forever. I was desperate for her to become more than a dancer for Brodus Clay and then, I was desperate for her to get the spotlight, get the title, stop being overlooked and passed over for superstar after superstar. Honestly, last night feels worth it as a fan (I hope it was for her too). There were at least two occasions over the years where it looked like she was going to get the title; around WM30, and during her heel turn. Neither would have gotten the response and emotion last night did. "You deserve it", indeed. She worked hard, regardless of her spot. She always gave it her all. She always came up with new ideas. She was always adding to her moveset. Always adapting her look. Always trying, always learning. I am happy as a fan of hers, but I am also so happy for her.

I've always had such a soft spot for Naomi and this was something I always wanted to see happen for her. Put a big smile on my face last night.

I enjoyed her win as I didn't really see it coming. She's improved a lot over the years and her entrance is very intriguing. Non wrestling fans channel surfing will stop what they are doing and check that shit out.

Been a big fan of her for a long time. She looks like a wrestler and most of her offense looks like It would hurt unlike bliss or Bagley. She also seems like a really nice genuine and relatable person.
She needs more intensity behind her mic work though

She works hard and all but she's never done it for me. Back to Bliss please, she was killing it as champ.

I'm honestly saving my happiness for if she retains at WM, because I'm so over this "NUCLEAR HOMETOWN HEATZ!~" bullshit the WWE likes to pull. Otherwise, it's really cool she's finally got the title as there was no way I was interested in her playing second fiddle to Nikki Bella or literally be Becky's best friend.
