She had many of the tools, but the crowd seems to have got behind her, and I think it was totally due. She isn't my favoritest or something, but I like her. She's busting her prodigious ass.
She got one of the most genuine "You Deserve It" chants ever. These days, fans will start that chant at almost any title change, but when the crowd gave it to her it felt real. You can tell she was genuinely moved by the chant and didn't expect it.
I'm okay that it happened. I didn't like how it happened. Beating Alexa in a meh eight minute match? I don't know.
SDL really hasn't figured out how to make their title changes pop. Alexa's win was similarly fate. American Alpha pins Randy Orton and it barely registers. Bray Wyatt finally wins a title and they make it freakin' obvious.
I'll give RAW this: they know how to sell a moment and make a segment when they want to. I'm not sure SDL does.

That is something I think they could stand to work on, certainly. Naomi's win was good, but I agree on Alpha in particular, it just kinda happened. Raw can overhype a moment, and often do, but Smackdown's big moments can sometimes be really flat. This and Smackdown's difficulty in finding much to do at all with midcard guys are two of their biggest issues I'd like for them to work on that Raw probably does better, though obviously Smackdown beats them in some key areas like time management many weeks.

Naomi, for me, girl has been around since 2010. You could really tell a good chase out of her finally winning and really cement her overness. But it just seemed like they decided she'll win and threw it out there. Alright?
I figure Nikki's part with Maryse will get more focus than whatever the other Smackdown women do for WM. It's a solid division but one that it isn't as solidified as RAW.
