Hmmmmm...we've passed WCW levels and getting into TNA.... Ben Affleck as Batman fights some random thugs and learns of new supervillans that are trying to get a foothold in Gotham. One appears to leave clues in riddles, and the other seems to have a tophat and umbrella. He decides to wait until next week at the same Bat Time on the same Bat Channel to do anything about it. End of ACT I. Act II. Just as they establish the new Riddler and new Penguin as cool new threats, Jim Carey and Danny Devito show up (yes using their real names and never directly referencing the fact that they are wearing slightly modified versions of their old villain outfits). The talk about how they were big shit up in North Gotham. They squash the new Riddler and Penguin, and go on to beat the shit out of Batman. Act III, Carey and Devito are never mentioned again. They completely disappear from the movie. Some scenes are spent trying to make the new Riddler and Penguin look credible again but even the cops are laughing at how shitty they are. Suddenly Batman appears. Instead of Affleck in the Batsuit it's Jeff Jarrett. He smashes the Bat Guitar over everybody's head and stands on top of the pile of corpses, declaring himself the ruler of Planet Batman. The End.

I really have my fingers crossed that WB can eventually clean up this mess and produce some good live action DC films, because these characters deserve it. But it's not looking good.
At least there's still Lego Batman.

How do you f*** up Batman?! Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher, Christopher Nolan, and Zack Snyder have all done it, so it comes as no surprise. At least Burton, Schumacher, and Nolan made entertaining movies while f***ing up Batman. Snyder made a boring mess, and he may have killed the franchise as dead as it was in 1997.

Look at it as a blessing in disguise and just end it at JL. Scrap The Batman and reboot the whole shebengabang. You have nothing to gain and more to lose at this point..find 3 good directors and make stand-alone New Superman/Batman/GL flicks.

People are conflating possibility and likelihood. WB knows that even a bad Batman movie will make money. But are they willing to sacrifice long-term gain, if they can get their ducks in a row, for short-term pain, actually putting out a Batman movie that isn't as good as it could be in order to capture the easy buck. Mind you, I don't know if we need a new Batman right away. No matter who is involved, in 2017 I know what I'm going to get in a Batman movie. I don't know what I'm going to get in a Cyborg movie, though, and Batman as the Hulk/Black Widow/Hawkeye guy who is the glue of the movies without having one himself might be what the character needs right now.
Could Affleck leave the Batman role? Absolutely. Will he, however? Who can say for sure other than the guy himself. Maybe WB will dump a truck of money to convince him to stay on, even if he's unhappy with the project. RDJ these days doesn't seem too enthusiastic about doing Iron Man again, but so long as he gets a lot of cash (which everybody knows) and can help out his fellow actors also get a lot of cash (which everybody knows), he'll do the job.
Regardless, most entertainment journalism sucks, especially when it's the "there's a rumour that someone said that somebody else said this wasn't going to happen" type.

Good.
Didn't like him in the role to begin with. I don't care if some people thought he was the "best" Batman...because if that's how people see him...then they can quit making Batman movies.

Forever, B&R, BVS... Warner Bros are experts at this point. Forever and Batman & Robin look like classics compared to some of the shit they've put out recently. That's the state of DC/Warner Bros. Who would have thought we'd long for THOSE movies? But I knew this might happen eventually, moreso with WB turning TDK Trilogy from modern classics (mostly) and solid interpretations into too much of a good thing. Add The Batman to the Screw Up Batman List. (no not the will it or won't it Affleck movie, the animated series) The half-hour prologue to Killing Joke too? And Burton didn't get everything right either (actually, Nolan too...) Seems the Timmverse is the only definitive other-media Batman from the 90s on.

It must be awful to put so much effort into creating a new vision for an established character and have it be f***ed with by incompetent executives who, rather than taking their time crafting a logical narrative whilst making movies people flock to theaters to see, are instead content with shoveling shit out and going "Let's just get to the finish line".

Y'know what the best way out of this would be? Make Batfleck Azbats and tell the story backwards in The Batman. The real Bruce Wayne had his back broken by Bane. There was this insane guy running around originally going by the name of Azrael afterwards that Bruce was forced to have replace him as both Batman and Bruce Wayne. He ends up getting Robin killed by Joker and goes on a murder spree while Bruce is away recovering. The "real" Batman returns, disgusted by BatAzfleck's actions, and challenges him for the mantle of The Bat. We now have a new, rebuilt Batman in the role and Affleck can go do what he likes, free of the stink. I think they have already proven that they refuse to put as much effort into this as you have.

Yeah...Might as well pull the plug really. They are kind of screwed at this point. Like I would of suggested they should rebuild and relaunch after Infinity Wars Part 2 to give some time and I'd imagine outside of Guardians and Spider-Man the MCU popularity wouldn't be as strong. Like I would be shocked if they continue making more Captain America/Iron Man movies on a regular pace after Infinity Wars. But they already filmed the f***ing Justice League Part One so they can't reboot the series too fast. Like they got away with it for Spider-Man because he's joining the MCU.
If The Justice League and Wonder Woman are bad they are kind of screwed

If Wonder Woman and Justice League are good/great films and hits in the box office I could see Ben changing his mind. At this point they can't afford for Wonder Woman or Justice League to be flops.
