Because I just did this morning. Forgot today is a stat holiday. God dammit now I can't fall asleep and I'm so tired. Might as well get day drunk.

Yeah, there's nothing like the feeling of showing up to work and there are no cars in the parking lot.

Yeah but not in the "forgot it was closed" way. When I was a Cinema Manager I got called by the alarm company on Christmas Day, when the cinema is closed. So as I'd been drinking all day I had to get my dad to drive me there to see what set the alarm off.

Not quite the same, but I did once turn up to a shift two hours early simultaneously drunk and hungover from the night before.
Of course, they made me stay and work those extra two hours.

I've shown up to work an hour early on when daylight savings time switches. Probably the best hour of work I've ever had. Zero distractions.
Also much better than the alternative of an hour late.

I've showed up to a business that got shuttered for tax reasons. Found out then I was out of a job.

I work at a store that is ONLY closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. So that'll never be an issue at this current work.

I once showed up to work on Easter, I believe it was. I tried to open the doors and they were locked. I kept wandering around trying to find a way in until it dawned on me that not only was it Easter, but the fact that I kept circling the building and trying to get inside probably made it look like I was trying to break in.

I came in when the automatic messenger they used just skipped around on me. Turned out the thing was trying to tell me there was a water main break and not to come in. I didn't know until I came in.
I've come in on holidays for "fire watch", which is basically just 8 hours of making sure the plant don't catch on fire.

I have never worked for a company that closes on any day of the year.

I think my workplace would have to engulfed in flames before they considered closing it. Even then, they'd try and find a way to keep the less smokey parts open.

Not the same but I went in to work 2 days after I quit in spectacular fashion on a bet from a co-worker who bet me $200 I wouldn't.I wanted to see if anyone would notice....they did and I was escorted out of the building by 2 security guards but I made $200 that day for less than 30 minutes work so I was okay with it. Me pleading "It's my 1st day!!" did not stop the guards.I was so appalled by my treatment I never went back.

I've had jobs that forget to post a new schedule, so two or three times I've showed up, only to have my boss say, "What are you doing here?"
So I have showed up on my days off not knowing I was off. But I hung around and helped for a bit before leaving.
It also helped that one time I looked at an old schedule and didn't show up one day. But the boss was like, "It's cool. We didn't need you."

Yep, I came into work January second this year.
All of the stuff that usually mentions days the office is closed did not mention January 2nd for New Years Observance so I assumed wrongly that it was open.

Not work but I loaded up on energy drinks and drove two hours (one way) to college one day only for it to be a week early on the return from winter break. Luckily the security guard let me in to use the bathroom.

Bank holiday.
They specifically close the bank.
I work at the bank.
You'd think I'd remember not to go into work at the bank.
AND YET.
