So yeah, this slipped under the radar here, but apparently Restaurant Brands, the parent company of both Burger King and Tim Hortons, bought the Popeye's restaurant chain for 1.8 Billion. More here: money.cnn.com/2017/02/21/investing/restaurant-brands-burger-king-popeyes-acquisition/Guess Popeye's commercials won't mock burger places that much anymore after this. Also, future combo stores like the KFC/Taco Bell ones I've seen?

Guessing Popeyes might start offering more gimmick promotions like Burger King does to keep relevant, though I suppose they've already done that with the waffle-breaded chicken with dipping syrup they've begun advertising.

Deep fried Whopper or riot Should I more offended as Not a Vegan or as someone who just eats what they like regardless of what others conceive as ''Taste''

I hope this means more Popeyes around this neck of the woods. It's almost criminal that the nearest Popeyes is so far from here.

I hope this doesn't mean the horrible service of Popeyes doesn't infect Burger King in my area.
Our local Popeyes has had horrible customer service since I moved here in 2007. Every time you go,going in to eat or drive thru, you better check your order before leaving. More than half the time at least one side will be missing, another will be wrong. And if you have to get spicy and regular chicken usually you get nothing but spicy.
But cause it is the only place in town for decent chicken people put up with how bad it is. I quit going for 5 years. Went back and gave them another chance. Went inside to get an to go order and asked them to please put the non-spicy in a separate box. Get my order all the sides are there, all are right, get two boxes, right amount of chicken. Get home it is all spicy. Call and complain like I do every time the order is wrong. Get told they will fix it,remind them it is a 20 minute drive for me. So they write down my name and next time I go I get it for free. But still horrible service since fall of 2007.

There are more Popeyes chicken places within a 5 mile radius of my home (4) than Burger King (2). Hell, at one time not too long ago there were more VACANT Burger King places (3) than ones still in business (2).
Smart move by BK.

I was hoping for Tim Horton's coffee at the King. No can do. Doubt we'll get Popeyes either.

Not that BK's is great... but the few times I've gotten Tim Horton's coffee it has been horrible.

Maybe this will lead to Popeye's coming to the UK? Had it once when I was in the UAE and thought it was the shiznit.

Really hope this leads to joint restaurants or at worst "Popeye's chicken" being part of Bk's menu

I dunno, I find a lot of the joint places the absolute worst. Like if you want the worst Taco Bell or Pizza Hut to exist on this green earth, go to a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut combo place. And in my area the crappy service of the popeyes is only outdone by the crappy service of the Burger King ... So hopefully this doesn't cause some kind of cross-servicefication and create some kind of unstoppable bad customer service monster (I doubt it since they franchises but I just wanted so say cross-servicefication). I dread what could happen to the buttermilk biscuits which have already been experiencing a steady decline in quality at my local popeyes. Although, maybe burger king will just start carrying popeyes fries, which would actually make their fries edible.

How long until the ragin' cajun' chicken whopper? During the wedding. And I am just glad I don't have to see that woman on my TV commercials for Popeyes anymore. Bitch is annoying as hell.
