Law and Order is my favourite show and I could easily marathon a full day of episodes. I love all the franchises but the original is still the best.

I'm an SVU man myself. Recently I've been watching some of the older ones and like one of the earlier posters I'm suddenly struck by what an unlikable tool Elliott Stabler really is. How did I not notice this before?

It'd make more sense than the fact they're working on one for viewers to vote on crimes going on in the news. upcoming series's: Isn't that first one exactly what FX is doing with American Crime?

"Law and Order....Under The Water"
Two detectives. One is a human, and the other is an aquatic humanoid species, investigating crime in the submarine city of New Neptune.

Loved original and SVU until Stabler left and it became in fact what it had been implied for about three years - the Mariska Hagerty show. Girl got crammed down our throats more that Roman Reigns. Say what you will about Stabler, but come ON, that got old quick. Original is fascinating to watch in order from the first to last season, twenty years from 1991 forward. Jerry Orbach, Sam Waterston et al just made the show a joy to watch.

I love the original Law & Order. Wasn't too fond of some of the females working with McCoy. My fav team is Briscoe and Logan.
The SVU ones are creepy because you know that shit really happens. And, yes, Stabler is quite a prick. But you really don't notice until you rewatch it. I did lose interest after Meloni left. He had great chemistry with Mariska. On reruns I could tell how old an episode was by her hairstyle.

Something I notice with the TNT reruns they won't show the first two seasons TNT used to show them but stopped about a year ago. WE tv still shows the old ones every once and a while, but never shows the newer ones. It is probably due to the syndication agreements or something of that nature.

Yeah, that's probably all they bought. Last time I found L&O on TV they only showed about 4 seasons worth. So they'd blow through 5 episodes a week, a season is like 20ish episodes, so it didn't take long to see the same ones over and over.

The original and Criminal Intent are great. SVU has been unwatchable since day one and has gotten progressively worse the last ten seasons or so.

I'm an SVU man myself. Recently I've been watching some of the older ones and like one of the earlier posters I'm suddenly struck by what an unlikable tool Elliott Stabler really is. How did I not notice this before? I'm of two minds on Stabler in that I always found him completely unlikable and at times actively monstrous, but he at least gives the show a pulse which is more than can be said of the boring slog it is with the constant baby talk and relationship drama the show's turned into. Plus at least the stuff with him got fun in how they kept escalating the crazy episode to episode, which still happens sometimes but nowhere near as often. Can't see modern SVU pulling anything as awesomely nutty as that wine company episode where it just keeps getting more and more insane until climaxing in a plot point about someone getting drunk through their ass. Though they do have their moments. Like that Transgender Bridge episode - speaking of, every modern SVU title is just incredibly stupid and awkward - where it gets briefly hilarious with how the kid apparently dies from learning her attacker likes comic books the way she flatlines the instant this realization happens. Though granted on the whole I just found that episode kind of annoying. I find most of the time when they try to have a sympathetic suspect I don't actually find them sympathetic at all.

I prefer one 200 years in the past. Law & Order: Regency has money written all over it. I'm a SVU fan, myself. svu fan here too. the first one was ok, though. couldn't get into CI though

Given the success of The Walking Dead and zombies in general, NBC has announced a new Law and Order. Coming this fall to NBC, Law & Order: Zombie Investigation Unit. Here is an excerpt from an early episode.

Thing I like about SVU is how off the wall the episode omits are. How does a sex crimes unit end up investigating an international smuggling ring run by a tiger eating Russian?

I'll also add in that I have this longstanding fantasy of Warwick Davis putting in a guest appearance on SVU-nothing big, just a walk on kind of thing, like maybe he's getting processed at the police station. And when Ice T as Detective Tutuola walks by Warwick Davis says something like "Hey, good to see you!" And then Tutuola groans and says "Not you again!" And when another cop asks how they know each other he kind of cringes and says "I don't like to talk about it!" Thumps up to anyone who gets the reference.
