Alec, since the title made my brain go to "You're my only hope", which of course is associated with his portrayal.

Its no contest. Alec is awesome.
Ewan sucks. Plain and simple. I hated his performance through all 3 movies. He has a stupid grin on his face in every scene. He looks like hes about to burst out laughing after every line. I know there was a lot of terrible acting all through the prequals, but he was almost the worst.

Ewan was easily the best part of prequels and deserves his own movie, but Alec.

Ewan was easily the best part of prequels and deserves his own movie, but Alec. This Ewan was great as Obi Wan... but as much as he hates it Alec Guinness is Obi Wan.

Alec Guinness all the way - and I say that as someone who thinks that Ewan McGregor is pretty cool.

I love STAR WARS.
I've loved that original trilogy my entire life.
I hear its dialogue whenever I see a quote or see movie talk about them.
I'm ok with the prequels, but keep my distance for the most part.
I've not seen the prequels much since 2005, but have seen the originals quite a lot more.
...............so somehow, my answer is Ewan McGregor.
He really succeeded in overtaking Sir Alec Guinness in my mind. We got more of him, but it's Sir Alec.
Dang.

Sir Alec was the better Obi but I always think of Ewan McGregor's Obi when someone says the name.

Ewan was easily the best part of prequels and deserves his own movie, but Alec. Yeah, Alec is who comes to me first for my mental image of the character, even if I'm more a fan of Ewan in the role.

This is actually a really good question, Ewan McGregor is probably the single best thing to come out of the prequels. A once in a lifetime match to the original portrayal and actor.
Not to hijack the thread, but have there been any other young versions of established characters that are as good as McGregor's Obi Wan?

STOP RUINING THIS FOR ME i'm doing something that's going to be great, the running joke is almost over, so bear with me here Not to hijack the thread, but have there been any other young versions of established characters that are as good as McGregor's Obi Wan? And which Obi-wan would this be? Obi-wan the Toddler? Obi-wan the Embryo? Obi-wan the Glint in the Padewan's Eye? and that wasn't it
