While I have a deal of nostalgia for the miniseries, it was not a faithful adaptation in a lot of respects, so I am curious about this.
I do like that Pennywise wears pretty old school clown clothes, because whoever is playing him is not going to be Tim Curry, so dressing like him as Pennywise would only invite probably unflattering comparisons. This also makes sense given the origin of that persona, rather than if he was dressed as Bozo in antiquity.
I hope that blurry, modern horror film shit with him rushing towards Bill is either less obnoxious in the film, or kept to a minimum, since I think it'd quickly undermine the actor's performance. This isn't, to my knowledge, a Blumhouse movie, so let's not make it like one, alright?

I dont get horror movies. Some of my friends always drag me to see some and the only ones where I am intrigued are the realistic ones which can actually happen in real life. I enjoyed the original when I was a kid, but I dont think this looks interesting enough to watch.

I kinda like the decision to have Pennywise played by a relatively young actor. That's a different approach, sort of like how I feel if you were to make another Little Shop of Horrors, the fastest way to kill that would be to try to hire someone who would be a pale imitation of Levi Stubbs as Audrey II. You'd be better off, there as well, doing something different, like maybe hiring Nicki Minaj or something.

I like it so far. It kind of reminds of the It Follows style of creepiness rather than the more overt style of a lot of horror flicks these days.

Yeah, that absolutely was right to change for the miniseries. In the miniseries, I really did not care for their adult Bill, who just seems to be kinda missing the point, with them trying to make him a little too cool, and John Ritter's a very charming guy but nothing like his character in the book, so I guess that might just be being too much of a stickler.

it was not a faithful adaptation in a lot of respects, Don't take this the wrong way, but I hear this a lot and I can't get behind it. To me, film is a different medium than written material and a lot of times I usually prefer liberties to be taken if it helps the structure of the movie. That being said, the mini series does have some problems but being faithful wasn't one of them. A lot of the stuff in the book would have only dragged down the tone even more. I think the parts where they were trying to be more faithful ended up hurting it more.

Ooh it looks decent, I'll definitely give it a watch.
I'm not a fan of the miniseries at all, but I first watched it a couple of years ago so I don't have the nostalgia thing.
And yeah, I doubt *that* scene from the book will be included. I had a visceral reaction to that. I held the book about a foot away from my face while reading it like that would make it stop 😂

Slavishly trying to keep stuff like the source material can be a bad idea, or lead to a really bloated product. Gone with the Wind tried to be very faithful, given the book was very popular, and it's considered a classic, but there's no way it needs to be THAT long. Some stuff needs to be trimmed for time and pacing in stuff. I guess my issue was more what was kept, versus what was cut, and some of my gripes boil down more to character interpretations.

Sometime I might try and pick your brain for your thoughts on the miniseries, given I saw it when I was a young kid. I honestly think I found My Girl's bee scene scarier.

This looks awesome. Can't wait.
Oddly enough I couldn't get into the book at all but I like the whole concept behind it so hopefully it translates into a good movie.

Very promising trailer. I had read a report about the sewer grate scene, and the jump scare still got me.

I just started reading it again and it's completely sucked me into it. Maybe try and pick it up again?
