I hate everything about that word, and just seeing it irritates me, but I'm also glad it exists if only because if I ever see anyone using it seriously I can feel free to completely disregard everything they have ever said or will say for the rest of their natural born lives. Eh, the word itself is a pretty acceptable evolution of "Whipped." Problem is, people seem to use it as a catch-all. Now snowflake, that one is getting some pretty impressive abuse, and makes me disregard them immediately. "OH! Look at these precious little snowflakes who don't want to give up their seats! Back in my day, we didn't have planes!" -30 Year Old Being serious, the part that Otha me the most is the way United was so obviously caught off guard by the reaction. As if they are so used to treating people like dirt that the idea this would cause a backlash at all never occurred to them.

I haven't flown in almost seven years, and this happens three days before I have the first of six flights in ten days with United. Great timing there.

Well its a good thing I didn't choose to fly with them to San Fransisco last year.
Though I've been told American Airlines are worse.

I flew United for my New York trip back in October.
My experience. Well the international portion (Melbourne - Los Angeles) was great, I used Economy Plus, got decent amount of leg room, the meals were included with the ticket, free drinks. And it was in one of those Boeing 787 Dreamliners .. a very nice plane.
The domestic portion though (Los Angeles - Newark) was that's not so good Al. Used economy (could not afford E+ for the whole trip)', cramped conditions, had to pay for meals (although they did give out snacks and non alcoholic beverages). And it was in a flying public bathroom.. a Boeing 757 . A plane Boeing stopped making over a decade ago, a plane so shitty that only it's only really been used by U.S based airlines. A large but narrow plane, designed to get as much people in as possible for long flights, minus the comfort.
Anyway I was not gang piled on, so that's a plus I guess.

Of course people defending them would be calling people cucks. I hate everything about that word, and just seeing it irritates me, but I'm also glad it exists if only because if I ever see anyone using it seriously I can feel free to completely disregard everything they have ever said or will say for the rest of their natural born lives. Yeah, it's like an instant loss condition for any argument they happen to get into, that also tells you to never bother listening to anything they have to say again.

I hate how they turned one of my favorite discussions into a political insult buzzword. Can't even make vintage threads or posts about sexual humiliation before it turns political now.

In an ideal world you can just look at these idiots and say "that seems more like your problem than mine"

Now that's brutal - dragging the creature out of its seat is one thing, but doing it at 25,000 ft is another. I CALL HIM... THE SEAT CREATURE!

Yeah, I'm gonna stick with Greyhound & Amtrak. If there was a direct route from Chicago/Detroit to Disney on Amtrak I'd do it in a heartbeat over flying. Love the train, but not enough to take 40 hours to get to Orlando.

If they needed some seats, the best way to handle it is to keep offering shit until someone says "OK"

I'll be the first to admit I don't know all the details. But from everything I've gathered it wasn't even that the flight was "overbooked". The flight was booked at the right limit, BUT at the last second United needed to put some of their crew on the flight.

For a fraction of what their stock value has lost, they could have simply chartered a private plane to carry that crew.
