I have a theory that a lot of people like Sandler's lowbrow humor,but they wouldn't admit it by going to the theater. Netflix gives them anonymity.
Also does the Hotel Transylvania movies count? That'll drive it up as well.

This is a board dedicated to watching sweaty ethnic stereotypes roll around in their underwear in the pursuit of a predetermined outcome. One time a leprechaun ran through a solid wall, which hit the guy behind him. Recently, a tubby hillbilly used animal stock footage against a guy who walked out on a giant sperm. They do that with so many of their movies and it annoys me because I'm not going to watch the sequel if I haven't seen the original one first. |

As someone that loves nuanced, thorough, dense films, I love me my Adam Sandler flicks from time to time. It's fun. It's funny. And what's crazy is his type of humor is ageing way better than Jim Carey and other performers. I think it's kinda underrated.
I don't have Netflix but if Zohan or Waterboy or Little Nicky shows up on HBO, I'll usually end up watching it.

I've ever understood the disdain. I grew up with Happy gilmote and Billy Madison. Watched him on SNl. Owned his CDs. I think it's just cool to not like him now. I love a good stupid comedy. Has he had some stinkers. Yep. But when he's making comedy slapstick style I will watch it all day.

I don't mind Adam Sandler. Mindless entertainment. He's funny, as are a lot of his movies. Hell, FXX plays the shit out of Waterboy and if I flip around and see it, I'm watching.

God it pains me to see how bad Adam Sandler's movies are these days. He was my absolute favorite growing up, but everything he makes these days is just straight garbage. I tried watching The Ridiculous Six at one point, but my goodness.
Though to be fair to Adam, I did recently say that if I saw Billy Madison for the first time today at 26 instead of when I was 9, I'd probably hate it too. But as it stands Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore are two of my all-time favorites.

I saw Sandy Wexler yesterday. Eh. Not terribly bad, but not very interesting with not much going on. The Do-Over was a pleasant surprise though.

For me there's a very clear demarcation line between Sandler stuff I love, and stuff that's just wretched.
Waterboy and before I love. Post that is mostly awful.
You'll get the rare exception (e.g. Click was alright), but for the most part 1998 was the last year he was consistently good.
Though I'll confess, sometimes I can't figure out if he got terrible or I just outgrew him.
But he made The Wedding Singer. So for that, he'll always be in my good graces even if nearly everything over the least twenty years has been shit.
