Atrocious acting from most of the cast, mutilating the books in the first two movies ESPECIALLY the first one, miscasting on a level not seen since John Wayne played Genghis Khan, and an overreliance on SFX. This franchise is my most hated film franchise ever. Then don't watch it. I'm always amused by this attitude of "I personally don't like (X) so it shouldn't exist anymore". The acting is fine. It's a franchise about dinosaurs, not the Godfather. The books have been adapted well enough (the second book was shitty anyway), and the casting is excellent. Sam Neill was a great Alan Grant and Jeff Goldblum is the perfect Ian Malcolm. An overreliance on SFX? Other than puppetry I'm not sure how else you'd portray dinosaurs in a film. Goldblum was one of the few bright spots. Neill seemed lost, and Laura Dern couldn't have been a worse actress if the movie was Birdemic or The Room. Attenborough was miscast as Hammond, who was poorly written anyway, and the kids were beyond annoying. And the book got trashed by the screenplay, which remains one of the all-time worst things that Crichton did. It's like they made a bunch of fake dinosaurs, saw a book lying around, and decided to write the movie around the dinos and decided, "To hell with the human characters and their portrayal."

I didn't really love Jurassic World, despite wanting to. Ian Malcolm being back could help, but maybe it's not my thing anymore.

Jurassic Park 2 suffers from the fact that Nick and Sarah are just plain idiots who get loads of people killed. Jurassic Park 3 has no ending. The spinosaurus just runs off and the raptors take their eggs and leave. Plus, it had Tea Leoni (thank goodness her career died long ago) screaming all the way through it.

I was really let down by Jurassic World. It was just kinduva dumb, shambling mess with generic stock-characters portrayed by actors who've done that same character multiple times in other movies (looking at you Chris Pratt). It was just a cliché-laden CGI-fest that left me feeling really empty after I watched it. But maybe I went in expecting too much as I really enjoyed Safety Not Guaranteed. I hope they .... I dunno do something different with JW2? JP 1 was obviously a classic. JP 2 was still enjoyable. I know it's WAY different than the book, but that doesn't really bother me. JP 3 was honestly closer to JW 1 in that it seemed to be more about showing off CGI dinos than telling a cool story. I think Jurassic World would have been an okay mediocre action movie (albeit filled with irritating children and nostalgic pandering), but Vincent D'Onofrio's character dragged it way further into garbage territory I had mentally blocked out and repressed D'Onofrio's entire character. I was hoping it wouldn't come up again until a therapy session years later. The whole dynamic between the two leads was just flat for me. I honestly didn't believe either of them as their characters or as actual people who could ever exist. Omar Sy was the only guy that seemed like a real person in that movie to me.

Dern is fine. Neill is supposed to be lost. He's a guy who has had his entire world changed overnight and struggles to come to terms with it. Attenborough would have been miscast if Hammond was depicted as he appeared in the book, ie: an asshole. But since they (correctly) changed his character to being well-meaning but misguided, there was no one better suited for that role than Attenborough.

Honestly I never really liked Jurassic Park's book as much as the movie. Too grisly and it would've made for a worse movie IMO. Lost World's movie went completely off the rails from the book, but the T-Rex rampage through San Diego was a lot of fun. JP3 was a turd, though. Macy's and Leoni's characters were terrible.
Jurassic World was good fun. Not a cinematic masterpiece, but it was a really enjoyable blockbuster. Plus I roll with Raptor Squad forever. It revived the 7 year old in me that was obsessed with dinosaurs. Jeff Goldblum's character being added to the sequel makes me happy.

Goldblum soured on me in the new Independence Day. Am tired of his Adam Westian schtick, and would prefer he just retire to residuals.
Granted, I hated 95% of Jurassic World, so I will likely skip.
But not looking forward to the inescapable media blitz.

I really hope the trailer is all dinosaur hell breaking loose, Chris Pratt, etc. And then we cut to black, then to Goldblum standing in a room watching monitors of the park, when he hits us with...
"I, uh...I keep telling them this is a bad idea."
Jurassic World 2 logo.

Honestly, if it's more than just a cameo, it's going to be interesting to see what they do with his character. After what happened to him in the first one, the second one, assumingly hearing of JPIIIs events, and Jurassic Worlds events ...I can see him being like "f*** these Dinosaurs. f*** you" and urging Military to Bomb the place.

Jurassic World 2 will be a two hour debate between Malcolm and Wu about ethics in genetic engineering.

The guy can do good stuff, but it seems audiences/studios just want him to keep doing the same thing.

Pittsburgh's other favorite (Keaton being #1 probably) was in Jurassic Park and Independence Day basically back to back almost. Jeff is probably still living it up off those paychecks. But he was hilarious on Inside Amy Schumer with the all-star 12 Angry Men sketch over whether Amy is hot or not.

One was incredible Two was pretty good Three sucked World was fun What's wrong with this multi billion dollar franchise exactly? Atrocious acting from most of the cast, mutilating the books in the first two movies ESPECIALLY the first one, miscasting on a level not seen since John Wayne played Genghis Khan, and an overreliance on SFX. This franchise is my most hated film franchise ever. The first one was way better than the book in nearly every way, and the second book was so boring and pointless that if the movie was faithful it'd be almost as bad as what we got.
