To be fair Dido shouldn't get any credit, the chorus is sampled from her song Thank You which is about something completely different

Is the second definition "guy who got superkicked by Shawn Michaels?" No that is under the word "coward" (complete with pic of him jumping out the window)

Wait, people use that as an actual word? Like "Suzie is such a stan for Bieber?" That's an actual thing?
EDIT: And to add context, I was 15 when that album came out. I bought it first day, I'm very familiar with the song and album and have never heard Stan used in day to day conversation

Honestly the Eminem song never crossed my mind until now.
I thought it was an amalgamation of "Stalker Fan"

Rap is weird. It's a good hook. Rap samples from a little bit of everything and turns into something new.

Is the second definition "guy who got superkicked by Shawn Michaels?" No that is under the word "coward" (complete with pic of him jumping out the window) you're thinking of a jannetty, who is also in the guniess book of records for most subsequent hiring and dismissal from the same company, it's the only time where the record is left blank as it's still ongoing.

I bought it first day, I'm very familiar with the song and album and have never heard Stan used in day to day conversation I've heard the word 'stan' before, like 'stanning for someone' (but only on the internet for the record.) Incidentally, it was only now that I connected the two. So is that really where stanning comes from?

The Eminem version of obsessive fan label. Poor ol Dido gets no credit. Not that she's the type to go down with the ship over this sort of thing. Don't think she'd throw her hands up and surrender, in fact.
