Seems like they had it already built in to the movie. Russel Crowe's character seems to be the connective tissue for the films. His characters company "Prodigium" seems to be the one Cruise's character seems to end up working for. I'd imagine it'll be Cruise who is the go-to soldier of fortune to help deal with the other monsters. Right, I shoulda specified I want to see just how organic that'll actually feel. Ah, gotcha. I feel like these shared universes never make it feel organic. It's either slapping a post-credit sequence in or they lose themselves in trying to make it work that individual films more like extended tv eps. Personally I like when it's done more subtly. Like the "Tarantino-verse" or the View-Askewniverse (before Jay & Silent Bob Strikes back, of course).

I just want to know why we need this remake? So universal can get on board the shared movie universe train and make Marvel money. Basically. this would be their second attempt at this as the first was Dracula Untold and it fell flat on it's face.

Plus, with stuff like this, remakes are fine unless you're just gonna leave Karloff and company alone.
And hell, with 'The Mummy', there's not even really a canon story you have to adhere to or bounce off of; can be anything.
I'm still not sold on Rock as Wolfman as they're talking about. I like both those things, but there doesn't seem to fit there. Talbot (or whoever) shouldn't be jacked as f***.

Yeah... it's kinda the point that the wolfman is a regular guy that turns into a monster... him being a massive bodybuilder type... just seems wrong. Honestly, most of the monsters that I'd assume would be more Jacked... are well monstrous types like Mr. Hyde or Frankenstein's Monster... hell I could probably buy a Jacked Vampire as well... but like transforming monsters like Wolfman and Jekyll seem like they shouldn't be terribly imposing in their human forms.

Agreed. werewolves are supposed to be letting the bestial nature free. You don't HAVE to have a meek guy there, but it doesn't hurt.
Then again David Naughton is my favorite wolfman alter ego precisely cuz he was an ordinary dude.

If this leads to a "Creature Commandos" or "Agents Of S.H.A.D.E" type movie then that'll be amazing

The one with Brendan Frasier looks better. Yeah, I said it. No need to say it as if you're ashamed. The first Brendan Fraser Mummy film is amazing.

There are people who hate the 99 movie? I can at least understand the hate for the sequel

Trailers make it look as if it's all about the Mummy wanting to bang Tom Cruise.
I'll watch it, can't be worse than Baywatch.

There are people who hate the 99 movie? I can at least understand the hate for the sequel It it wasn't for Rachel Wiesz I probably wouldn't have made it through the first one. I mean I know 1999 was a crazy time but the idea of Brendan Fraiser as an action hero was a million times less believable than ancient mummy magic.

All I can think about when I hear of this movie is that trailer that got leaked where there's no music or sound effects and it's just people screaming.

The Mummy is female? Are they doing this just because, or is there a good reason? I don't care anymore, but is it just for the sake of the Mummy always being a male before?

It really feels like its gender swapped, i.e. Cruise is the Weisz character.
That said, mummy being female is fine by me. There's nothing in Egyptian undead menace that has to be one or the other. Hell, as I said before, hot chick mummy at least is something new.
And while Brendan Fraser as an action star I could take or leave in those flicks; Vosloo killed it as Imhotep.

I groaned when I heard about the plans for this movie and the planned extended universe. Yet hearing about all the practical effects and the cast doing their own stunts has made me cautiously optimistic.

i don't have a problem with the mummy being female, although i wished they would've made her look she actually belonged in ancient Egypt. ![](https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/72/fb/b0/72fbb09a4428ce6e149db52318f23d69.jpg) this i buy ![](http://media.comicbook.com/2016/12/the-mummy-215291-1280x0.png) bangs and a braided ponytail makes it look like she was mummified in 2003 my main problem with the new mummy are the bug eyes and the Hakushi tattoos
