Just got home from this one.
A lot of fun. Cruise was more Knight&Day or EoT Tom Cruise than Jack Reacher/Ethan Hunt, which fit well with the movie.
You definitely have to come into it expecting action/adventure set against a horror motif as opposed to a straight-up horror film.
A lot of the action scenes felt more like "practical w/some CGI sweeteners" as opposed to the CGI-heavy films we see from similar actions films
Mind you, it didn't redefine the genre or anything like that - but it was 100% solid entertainment with fun characters. It's the kind of TNT new classic that'll probably have better re-watch value than most (save for maybe 2 or 3) of the superhero films coming out of late.
edit - Having slept on it, the more I think about this one the more it reminds me of Army of Darkness (in a good way), but with much better production value.

Brad Jones reviewed it... combined with another movie (The Mummy is the first 20 minutes) language and spoilers... duh {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}he didn't really like it... main take away from it so far.
"This movie didn't have a post credit sequence... because this movie IS a post credit sequence."
final verdict: Rent it probably... it's not very good but it's not going to make his worst of list.

I saw it today and I liked it. Pros- Good action sequences - Sofia Boutella was good as the Monster (Very Scarousing) - Likable characters - Nice Practical effects at times - Looks nice - Some good acting - Decent backstory Cons- Some questionable acting - Some CGI looked a bit ropey - A bit slow at times - Some of the humour fell flat (But it did have some funny moments) - {Spoiler}{Spoiler}The Mummy herself was underutilized She really didn't do THAT much Overall a solid 6/10, A solid time waster. Just don't expect anything groundbreaking

I laughed so f***ing hard at this movie. I'm not saying it's bad or that you won't find it entertaining - just that we went in expecting a horror/thriller and ended up cracking up at a lot of the choices they made in the story.

I loved the... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}double pimp slap from the Mummy when Cruise kept running at her - stuff like that is what reminded me of AoD for this one

I like that it didn't take itself too serious. And one thing I really loved {Spoiler} actually getting to see Mr Hyde and his cockney accent. Seriously I expected a tease but not a full fledged turn and his trying to convince Nick to team up was pretty awesome

This movie was not what I expected. I don't know yet whether that's good or bad. It wasn't horrible, I guess...
