Not a good movie by any means but I'd rather watch it than "Dark Knight Rises"

too many coincidences for my liking but the ending action at the observatory is quite SUPERB! AND in a roundabout way, it was the first JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE ..... and that is why superman works alone!

I've seen so many dubious superhero flicks since Batman and Robin come out that I kind of view it as pretty harmless now. Schumacher may have done the material no real favors, but the studio's push for lighter and goofier stuff probably damned it to some degree no matter who was directing.
Really I think the problem was superhero films in general were on such thin ice (forgive the freeze reference) that a campy mess like B&R pretty much poisoned the well for a while. Comic books films in the 5 years after that meant either R-Rated stuff like Blade or more grounded works like X-Men till Raimi's Spider-Man more or less made it okay for superhero pictures to be a bit camp again.

Not a good movie by any means but I'd rather watch it than "Dark Knight Rises" I think I'd rather watch Batman v Superman over Dark Knight Rises. At least I'd get that awesome Wonder Woman music as a reward at the end. DKR ain't got shit.

Not a good movie by any means but I'd rather watch it than "Dark Knight Rises" Batman Begins for me. But one of the most enjoyable Batman films. Despite how bad it is and how it nearly killed the franchise and the superhero genre. But now it's a film that can appreciated more fondly with how The Batman Franchise recovered and how big the entire Superhero genre became.

I actually did not see this when it came out. I wasn't even avoiding it, I just didn't get around to it. Then, I heard about its infamy over the years and outright avoided it. Then, when the Blu-ray finally dropped years ago, I figured I'd give it a chance, thinking it couldn't be as bad as people made it out to be. Not to mention, I'd loved Batman Forever's schlockiness as a kid. I was still nostalgic for that movie, and this one supposedly amplified that film's campiness by a billion, so how bad could it really be?
It's by no means a good movie. But I think that strong, negative reaction comes from it following Burton's films, and to a lesser extent, Forever. Those were darker films, so for us to all of a sudden get what was basically a glossier version of Adam West's Batman just didn't jive at all with the atmospheric continuity. Like it doesn't belong in the same universe as its predecessors. If it stood on its own, and wasn't a sequel to those first 3 films, it might be looked upon a little more favorably.

Aside from the production design of Gotham City (which I loved in both Schumacher movies) it's a terrible movie.

COOL PARTY!
Me and a friend of mine went over a list of problems with the Mr. Freeze character... basically them having no idea what they wanted to do with him.
They wanted him to be the cheesy pun spewing 60's version, the emotionless robot we were supposed to sympathize with like the Animated Series and a cold hearted straight up murderer... and the 3 ideas just are blatantly at odds with each other.

Clooney sells his tequila company for $1bil on the 20th anniversary of this.
Looks like he's finally replaced the pain of B&R with a pleasant memory.
(I mean, he has a wife and now kids, but I meant replacing the pain of this particular day...)
