The more I watch this season the more I marvel at the fact that J.P. got through casting. Dude has the agency of a kumquat, and a personality to match. I read somewhere that 60% of Survivor viewers are female,it would explain why this show and BB always have 1 or 2 of these muscular 20 something bachelor reject types who have the personality of a cardboard box. I don't think it's dull eye candy most female or gay male fans want but some Exec probably think that their is an audience for it based on tumblr and other sites.

As of right now, I'm thinking either Ben or Jessica wins this thing. That Ben scene was so powerful. Important social message aside, it's just nice to have a scene of character development not attached to the game at all, which is becoming increasingly rare in modern Survivor. I see Ali and Ryan both in the discussion for winners as well. For as much as the pre-merge is catching flack for not being eventful enough, it's done a pretty good job of setting up potential winners. There are 6 or 7 people I could see winning, even someone like Mike.

Haven't posted in this thread yet but there's robust discussion over at the SurvivorSucks forums and shocking to say a lot of people are very positive on this season (usually it's a forum for pure negativity and often offensive content) I feel like this season has a lot of entertaining characters and for me personally it's been very hard to narrow down to one or two picks for winner. As already mentioned there are a half-dozen people who could probably go all the way thus far.
If I had to choose 2 men and 2 women to make it to the end gun to my head, I'd say Jessica Johnston and Laura Rimmer for the ladies and Joe Mena and Ryan Ulrich for the guys.
If you asked who my favorites are (but not necessarily who are going to F3) for the ladies Chrissy (who's almost dead in the water at this point since last tribal but her personality is highly entertaining to me) and Desi (hot as fire, challenge beast she will be targetted by the jealous females unless they actually go through with the All Ladies Alliance) and the guys I like Devon and Ben (both challenge beasts and good all-around guys who will be dangerous to take any further than the merge).
Then there's Mike with the idol who seems smart enough to use it in a game-changing way especially with Jessica as his ally (who he'll probably end up using the idol to save since she arguably helped him find it as his lookout while he was digging). Cole is maybe so stupid and loose-lipped that he'll be kept around till the end as a goat since those bad habits and his piggy personal hygiene will turn anybody away from voting for him at Final Tribal, he'll be a helpful ally to win challenges after the merge if you're trying to target a bigger threat and avoid them getting individual immunity.
There's a lot more game left to play but the HHH season is already making me bow down to the King (Jeff Probst)

Didn't see it coming. Ali was one my picks to go far, but I guess it makes sense to get rid of her too. She can tell others about Ryan's backstab.

I knew Ali was getting the boot if that tribe went to tribal council. Schemers like Ryan and Chrissy don’t need other schemers to get ahead in the game. They need someone who is easily controlled and can keep their enemies from winning immunity challenges. That’s JP 150 to 200%. JP can win challenges but he’s absolutely no threat at all to talk his way into a million dollars at the end. You just point him in the direction you want him to go and get it done.
It looks to me like it’s going to end up being Ryan, Chrissy, JP, Ashley, Devon, Ben, and Lauren versus the remaining Healers based on how these alliances have happened, but I’d love to be wrong about that.

To borrow a line from the Survivor sub, the worst part about this not being JP's boot episode is that we'll eventually have to see JP's real boot episode. Man, this is rough. Ali was my winner pick and all and I knew in the pit of my stomach it was her if Soko lost again, but the editors really had me thinking it was JP's night.

I feel like there's more to Devon than it seems on the surface. If you pay attention, he's actually pretty astute. His social game seems solid and no one's really calling him out for being too physical. No one's worried about the guy, but I think they should be.
Totally my dark horse pick.
